So hey. Updates on my life. What I did today etc - will go here. Who knows how often I'll update.
So I've finally got around to making some serious headway towards getting my own website done. I'm a web designer who mainly gets work through word of mouth. I'm also an IT Technician by trade.
It's been a long process of building my site/theme from scratch. I've kind of just let it evolve. I'm really happy with it. It feels like a serious milestone.
I decided last week to go for a certification that I've always wanted. I say certification because those are cheaper than a qualification, and I prefer to let my work speak for itself.
The highlight of this week was the snippet of a new track that Paradise Lost put out. I can't wait for that album!
My plans for the coming week include more walking, and some study. The hardest part of finishing my website will be deciding which picture of myself I want to use for it.
I'm still aiming to get my weight down to make walking easier. I've been fairly averse to use painkillers when I push myself too much, though I might reconsider that.
I need to relax a bit more too. So I'll be watching stuff that makes me happy. I really love the film Shape of Water - it's my all time favourite. I will watch Amelie again soon too.
As far as dating goes. I haven't struggled to get a date, but I'm being more cautious, selective and picky in a sense? I've been on a lot of dates, and I know what I want. Travelling is tiring and dates can feel like too much when the other person can't understand or doesn't know much about your disability or condition. It's honestly why finding a Dev would be a preference.

The site is almost done! So, the theme itself is a bit like a canvas with a few rules I've baked it telling me where I can and can't paint. I have seriously outdone myself with this. It's exciting.
I've being feeling lethargic for a long time, but the boost that this is giving me is immense, I'm just really happy. I feel confident with it.
Yesterday night I watched a documentary called Heavy Metal Britannia. Great stuff.
Tomorrow I will try to get some walking in. I've ordered some new clothes, which is awesome.

Oh rad, I'll have to check that out! I watched Synth Britannia not too long ago and it was faaaaaantastic.
"The music will appeal to alienated youth everywhere, and Germans." - His Eminence Martin Gore
Are you using js? I touched that precisely one time. Made a nice little browser-based tool that came together relatively painlessly. I then viewed it on mobile, wanted to puke, and that was the end of that.

I'd love to see your website when you're done! I just recently finished mine, after a lot of work (I made it using a builder called webflow). But I am familiar with HTML, CSS and a little bit of JS. I just find it's way too much work to make a site from scratch just using code, especially since I can't type very fast.
I agree though that building your own site can be very exciting. There's just something about building something that looks good and works correctly with your own digital hands. It’s so satisfying!

Today/Yesterdays update. I have Covid-19.... I'm working on a website for a DIY Punk Merch business.
I'm going to be learning to play MtG
As far as my day job... I'm in isolation. I'm going to be pushing my web design and online IT consultancy business. I want to do some online outreach to people who want to learn and/or improve on their IT skills.
Stay safe, be kind.

Update:
I still have a cough. Staying in is driving me stir crazy. Using the time to refine websites, get some SEO and mess with Linux.
Linux related - Trying the Wayland Session in Ubuntu. It's slow. not fun.
Personal development - what else is there to do?
I'm now the proud owner of a Linkedin profile. My website is done, I'm trying to promote. I ordered a Kindle and intend to get some reading done. I remember really loving Terry Pratchett. I have loads of Haruki Murakami to read. and lots of web development text books. I need to refine my CSS knowledge.
Without Spotify I would have thrown myself from a bridge. I'm bingeing My Dying Bride while I wait for the new Paradise Lost album. Songs of Darkness, Words of Light and their newest Ghost of Orion are incredible.

Generally - apathetic
The driving force behind everything I'm doing is to be on the front foot when things get back to normal. I'm 99.9% sure I'll be relocating up north - Scotland - That's the aim, the goal, the mission.
MusicMore My Dying Bride and some Iron Maiden Self Improvement and Web DesignStill tweaking my site, but I'm getting to a point where I need to clean my CSS, and like the Coronavirus, just the thought of it is making me want to die... I have a book old ebook on CSS so it might be a good time for a refresher. I have been updating my CV regarding the newest site I've built, honestly, so happy with it. I need to delete my dating apps, I haven't met anyone, but at the moment, I'm not going to. They're more of a distraction.
Gaming Playing Doom 2 on Switch - Original Doom 2 - Loving it/have always loved it. The level Tricks & Traps can suck a bowl of dicks though. I tried playing FF7. I really appreciate it from an artistic and graphical standpoint. Some parts really do look beautiful, but it suffers badly for it sometimes. Too much "wtf do I do" "Where the hell do I go" and an infuriatingly obfuscating map mean that my obsession of never running from a random encounter have ruined the game. I am about 20 levels over-leveled, bosses fall like sand castles, and I'm not even bothering upgrading equipment or materia. I've given up with it. More Geek StuffMore Linux stuff - Maybe it's just time I replaced this ageing laptop? It'll have to wait til Covid-19 blows over, but yeah. for anyone interested, I'm using a HP Probook 6460b. It's beginning to slow me down, even the 16GB of RAM isn't saving it. It'd probably be fine with Windows.. urghhh. I really hate the Windows UI. Gnome is where it's at for me.. I love a good dash.
Track of the Day!
How's everyone doing?

Update. Father tried to give me a haircut. I'm bald. Take it easy. With humour and music, it's not all bad...
Hope you feel better in general!
Another thing I wanted to tell you. Since you like it dark and melancholic, I suggest you listen to this:
The complete album will be released on May 8th.

It's not doom-y enough for me, but I'm still on an MDB binge. A sea to suffer in is incredible!
