I live in Vienna, but I grew up in the more mountainous West Oh yes, I can imagine all the areas that are accessible would also be filled with tourists. That's the downside to living in a beautiful place... Do you happen to know Alpenverein's accessible hiking trails? I found out a couple of months ago that they have a filter for wheelchair accessibility in their online database of hiking trails (with a system of difficulty levels, which looks pretty impressive). I was super excited to find out about it, but I'm curious if many (any?) PWDs are actually using it and if it's any good. I looked for some trails but they are not really in the mountains they are more in the valley. I ve been to Gesäuse National-park this summer. They even rent attachable e-bike for wheelchairs there. They pull you up a little. but you cant hike the mount everest with these things That's pretty cool! I think just a nice flat path around a mountain lake can be wonderful, if it's away from the crowds. And I hear Mount Everest is getting more and more crowded with tourists anyway, so it's not a huge loss that it will probably be a few more years before anyone thinks of building a wheelchair ramp up that one

I just came across this on Youtube and since we were talking about climbing Mount Everest with a wheelchair, I thought I'd share it. Turns out, someone almost did - just base camp, but it's still pretty crazy and impressive!

thats pretty impressive. But the first 5 seconds in the second video look like a very uncomfortable way to hike.

I'm sure some of you have heard of him. In one of them he travels from Vietnam to Tibet (5700km) and is actually being carried to a natural fount somewhere 5km above sae level... This is him. He also travelled across India and stuff. Unfortunately it's all in German but there is still some nice footage in there. He's a legend imo.

[brought to you by the Austrian department of tourism] Yes, it could be worse. But its hard to find beautiful accesable places in the mountains with a wheelchair. Its rather easy to go up the mountains in western Austria. You can find infos here: Barrierefreier Urlaub in den AlpenMy hometown brings you up above 2000m in 30 minutes in your chair by public transport if you like to.

Yes, you are right i noticed in western Austria there are actually a lot more places. I was referring more to the eastern part (Styria, lower and upper Austria). which is more in a distance to reach in a one day trip from Vienna. But thanks for your link really helpfull.
