It's too bad when the opinion of one person causes someone to feel unwelcome in an entire group.
Especially since, looking back, that person now driven away used to actually contribute meaningful discussion and content on the topic this board was created for.
Something we don't really see anymore.

ya. i guess i'm missing something but i don't really understand the drama behind this one. either way, if i were lisa/piper i would have left my original post up anyway at the very least as there are lots of lurkers here and she may have had one or two takers eventually. it sounded like it was important enough to her to keep pursuing what she was looking for.
call me old fashioned, but sniping posters from behind an alias just doesn't seem very cool.

I don't know Lisa, haven't read the old posts, and she left about the time I showed up. So I don't really know what happened, but if E thinks she's OK, then she's gotta be!  When I showed up, and said what I had to say, I did in fact get a lot of flack and was made to feel very unwelcome by several members. But I didn't leave, because a few people supported and accepted me the way I was, and I found that acceptance, even if it was in the minority, was something that I needed and had been looking for. Isn't that what this board is about anyway? Acceptance in an unaccepting world? So I stick around, and figure that the people who have a problem with me having BIID or my method of dealing with it can just ignore me, and I have found quite a bit of solace in the company of other devs, in the affirmation from wheelers that devs are OK, and in the acceptance of the wheelers who have no problem with the fact that I occasionally wheel too. So Lisa/Piper, all that to say that I hope you'll come back, and ignore whoever has made him/herself your enemy, because there are other people here who may prove to be your friends. I know it hurts, but don't lose out on that just because of one person. Edited because I have a hard time making sense.  |
