Hello Ennia, your avatar is totally captivating. I am new on this site also. And yes I also heard negative, toxic things about devs. But so far I’ve found this forum to be welcoming, warm, and supportive. It’s a pleasure to meet you

Hi Dani and thanks for the friendly welcome, I was actually looking for something about people with disabilities and what it is to be a devotee, I called it affinity with people with disabilities but the term as I read it is different, I discovered that word in an interview with Aaron Wood, a quadriplegic guy who talks about online dating and describes devotees as weird and toxic to people with disabilities and advises to stay away from them, but in relation to what he says here on the forum, it's the opposite and they are a great community where respect and friendship is lacking above all. Here is the link to what he says: ablethrive.com/relationships/4-tips-online-dating-disabilityHey, Welcome! Happy to have you stumble on in! I hope through exploring and interacting here you will see that most people who identify as devotees are decent human beings and not something to be so afraid of or repulsed by! I'm always advocating for more open-mindedness from fellow PWDs because while there's a very loud and evil minority, the majority of devs are special people who will enrich the world in wonderfully unique ways if accepted and understood! In every group, there's a malicious few, but it is wrong to judge the whole by their actions! Since everyone is complimenting your eyes, I'll join in! Cool hair color! Is it like a purple or maroon, or is the lighting just playing tricks?

Hello there and a warm hearted welcome from the averagely colder Western Europe. It's so cool you found your way here and I'm always so glad when people join that are not from Europe or the USA , the more diversity, the better. I really hope you will find the people you are looking for, and honestly, I have no doubt you will.
I am also completely agreeing to what has been said before about the link you posted, but I am still aware that it is not always easy to overcome the very negative stereotype that has been spread around about devotees in society as the predatory disability fetishists. That , and the conditioning we had that disabilities are a negative thing and a reason for rejection, can also result in a reaction of fear when it suddenly becomes an object of (sexual) attraction. I will not be ashamed to say that I struggled with this when I had my first encounter with a dev. "How much does she still like me for me , and not just for my blindness?", that is what I kept asking myself, and her.
obviously I was open minded enough to alter my preconceptions and explore the dev world for what it is , in al its forms and nuances. Otherwise I wouldn't be greeting you now.
Oh and btw, I'm totally blown away by your avatar and eyes too ... wink wink
