rebeckers84, I could kiss you. I mean, not with tongues and stuff, but I bloody love you woman!! You did such a good job on that interview. You were natural, confident, personable and open. You were the perfect ambassador for us devs. You made us sound like normal, everyday women. Because, guess what...we are! Sometimes, after spending an extended period of time on PD, it’s easy to become a little shielded from the real world, where disabled people (generally) aren’t our biggest fans. This was a big step towards bridging the gap between what we know we are really like and what others think they know about us. You had to answer a LOT of questions and you did a stirling job. Sometimes the guys seemed to get ahead of themselves and cut short subjects I would like to have heard more about, or went off on irrelevant tangents, but for the most part, I think they were open to hearing your POV and taking some new ideas on board. If you can change just one disabled person’s negative views on devs, or help an unaware dev discover that there are others like them out there, then that’s enough for me. I really hope there aren’t negative comments in response to your time on air. How could anyone not like you though?! You are just lovely. So anyway. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You made my day xx

You did a wonderful interview and came across eloquently and thoughtfully. Definitely should make people think more positively towards attraction to pwd’s.

Oh well, this was actually quite relaxing and interesting to listen to. I mean, the whole "atmosphere" has been so positive and laid-back, I didn't expect that. Also you seemed like it was perfectly natural for you to talk about this in "public" and didn't seem nervous about it at all. So, thanks for doing that and posting about it here. I know it means a lot to some people out there. ("Everybody liked that.")
Very nice voice, btw.

rebeckers84 first of all thank you this a very , very big deal and you really showed some serious balls doing this. I really loved you when you said you hate nature:) because I do too and always get some weird looks and reactions when I say that so, yes... I was amazed by that part. My overall impression is that I feel a bit sorry for all of us. Not only devs but ppl in general, because of over so overwhelming and impossible to get rid of need to come across as “normal”... so, so much energy put into explaining, and drawing boundaries “i am like that but definitely not that because that’s weird...” Of course I don’t justify predators who are pushing themselves into any other person personal space against their will, that is of course on another spectrum and any sane person will agree with this. But laughing so hard to someone who is potentially specifically attracted to a left leg above the knee amputee while you said specifically at the beginning that you are into paraplegics and LOW LEVEL quads is just sad to me. I might be that weird specific dev. And I am. Not that I don’t have other preference as well but I recognized myself in this particular case you laughed about and I of course expect that from vanilla people but from someone who is also a dev like me it’s really hard to take. Idk... I always felt weird here and like this might not at all be the place for me but for some reason I stick around. To end on a good note thank you. You were amazing and you are so charming and charismatic that I couldn’t get my eyes of of you and it’s a huge compliment having in mind that right next to you there was a guy in a wheelchair ahahaha Guys btw talk Soooo soooo much I became sick at some point. Nothing worse then a man who talks this much. It’s just my opinion Thank you. I enjoyed it. You are our hero

As for the title, I'm sure that's just to make it clickbaity and if it gives the video more views, then I'm all for it! Make this be the first thing that comes up when someone types "devotee" into Youtube! [/quote] I agree the title is so wrong but it’s obviously click bait and it obviously worked since Beky with good hair has roughly 3,5k views while all the other videos from their channel have under 500 so go Rebeca go!!!

Hi, I just wanted to say that this interview was a big part of the reason why I decided to join the paradevo message boards(I just created my account last night!). I thought the Op did an excellent job answeringu questions. I am disabled myself, and I've always approached devotee-ism with a certain degree of trepidation. This interview made me see another side to it. So, thank you to the Op for taking the risk and putting themselves out there. I can tell you for certain that you changed at least one mind with this interview!

Welcome robert_house! It makes me happy to see that more exposure to what it's really like to be a dev is changing minds. Make yourself comfortable, it's a friendly bunch here!
