Just saw it yesterday. I'm not going to say any spoilers but damn that ending after they did the "Months later" title screen was shocking. Sorta made me wish they continued to see what would have happened. I was yelling at my tv during that and the climax of the movie. gph.is/21w2J45I am so glad they didn't ruin it with a bad chair choice.

I really didn’t like it and stopped somewhere during the first episode. The main character is so utterly unsympathetic to me, right from beginning. It’s all so dark (well, obviously intentionally) that it leads me to depression. And this in autumn! Very bad timing. And I found it totally uninteresting from a dev point of view, even though I am among those who are not especially interested in fancy stuff. But maybe that is partially because I strongly dislike the main character.

Hahaha, finally got around to this one. Did nobody like it? Obviously the main character was an asshole, but I thought it was more like a dark comedy/thriller. I’ve seen a few para movies, but this one was definitely the best.
*** SPOILERS *****
When he gives her an epidural so that she’s in a wheelchair too, I fucking lost it. And then their cripple fight on the stairs, and he’s sliding down after her... I didn’t stop laughing until the end of the movie at that point. And then a few more chuckles during the credits.
When he had TBI he did a really good job with the facial expression and curled fingers. Very realistic. I also liked his quick darting movements in the wheelchair. When he transferred it was awkward, but makes sense for a new para. And the scene when he had nerve pain... Fuck, I felt that so much.
But yes, he was clearly a trash human from the very first scene when he steals the victim sunglasses. Then with the blatant pre-meditated gaslighting and other abusive behaviors, he made a great villain and I’m glad that Vane got her revenge in the end with his gimpy ass.

Interesting! I don't mind the spoilers because I will never ever watch this. I guess it's good you took it as funny. But doesn't it bother you that it's fitting into the PWD as villain cliche?

Interesting! I don't mind the spoilers because I will never ever watch this. I guess it's good you took it as funny. But doesn't it bother you that it's fitting into the PWD as villain cliche? I was thinking about that, and I think there are a few reasons why I was okay with it. **** SPOILERS **** 1. It’s clear the writer and director had some knowledge of paraplegia, as well as the actor. There was real research done and they probably knew someone who was paralyzed. I feel this is more respectful handling of disability than someone who just arbitrarily throws someone in a wheelchair because they think it makes them seem more evil. Plus, the wheelchair he is in is a cool one that fits him perfectly, not a stupid clunky hospital one. 2. His villainy is independent of the injury. Angel was a garbage dump person long before he got paralyzed, and the injury doesn’t change that. His girlfriend didn’t leave him because he was disabled, she left him because he was an asshole. The paralysis incident is relevant to the plot because in going through a major struggle, Angel’s terrible personality is put into even sharper relief, and not even paralysis can prevent his violence. He manages to commit multiple murders and a kidnapping despite his physical limitations. 3. The only ableist character in the movie is Angel himself. At one point he says something like “I got an escort, because how else is a guy like me supposed to get a woman?” I say this is evidence of his ableist worldview. On the other hand, the other people in the film behave as I think they should. Angel runs into an old friend at the store who didn’t know he is now in a wheelchair, and the friend doesn’t act like an awkward idiot about it. The physical therapist doesn’t coddle Angel; she expects him to work hard and maximize his abilities. She even makes an offensive joke when Angel inappropriately hits on her (maybe you can take me dancing some time). For me, jokes like that are okay as long as there’s an understanding that it’s not based on the joke teller’s negative view of disability. Plus he deserved it. 4. I’m more forgiving of media that is intended to be dark. Bad Santa is my favorite Christmas movie, even though the main character is a major loser and jerk. So yeah. I could see how this movie would not be a good watch for someone who has been traumatized by an abusive relationship, and it may not be as funny to that person. Nonetheless, when the camera cut to a new scene where they are both rolling around in wheelchairs... My neighbors definitely heard me bust out on that one. That guy is just so fucking ridiculous.

I haven't seen it myself but based on the trailers, I find it funny that PWDs in film and TV usually are either 1: Inspirational for just existing. 2: Weakling losers to be pitied. 3: Evil, vengeful shits.
