Hey there,
I recently found out about this forum and thought I would give it a try.
Hmm what to share on here?
I am 35yo, male, and my mobility is extremely limited, although I am not paralyzed. I have a rare genetic condition that started at age 19. I was independent and athletic until then. I spent most of my athletic years training in Kung Fu, and I have a 2 year college diploma. The condition was first thought to be a sports injury so I went undiagnosed/misdiagnosed for the next 10 years until finally getting a genetic diagnosis.
I would describe myself as thoughtful and honest, with a good sense of humor. I like to have deep conversations, and I enjoy watching movies with 'based on a true story' being my favorite category. I have a wide variety of interests and also enjoy learning new skills and challenging myself. If your interests involve hiking up Mount Everest I won't be able to join you, but I can try to keep the tent warm.
I'm interested in finding a woman who is honest, open minded, kind hearted and has respect for others, and of course, is okay with the fact I have a physical disability and am confined to a wheelchair (powerchair).
If you are interested, message me and let's chat.
- and hey to all the guys on here who are disabled! after lurking for a bit I was inspired by everyone's bravery/courage it took to put yourself out there and try to condense who you are into a post. feel free to send me a message anytime.

Welcome! Nice introduction. Thanks! when you hit 19 how quickly did your mobility decline? nice to meet you btw It started with a serious sports injury to my ankle or so they thought, it happened while training in a martial arts class. I had a reconstructive surgery done to stabilize it, while trying to recover my other ankle had the same issue and that also got the same reconstructive surgery. I thought I would heal and recover back to 100% but they didn't heal properly leaving me unable to walk or move my feet without pain, and the condition kept spreading to all my joints. Over only a few years it seemed like every few months or weeks it spread to something else. Nice to meet you too

damn that is rough, to have something so important suddenly taken away from you like that. when I was born they knew something was wrong just didn't know what so they did lots of tests and experimental surgeries on me. feel like knowing you will never walk is not as traumatizing as having that freedom ripped away from you. sorry that happened to you but great to have you and everyone is very friendly here, except for that gimp3590 ass****

lol Thanks for the welcome gimp3590
Yes it has been difficult mentally and physically, it is a painful condition every day, it's been progressive for over 15 years now. It certainly has taught me a lot about myself, forcing me to look at things differently, as well as other disabled people and what they have to go through each day.
I am glad I got to live freely at least somewhat though, the experience and knowledge I gained during that time proved very valuable to surviving this situation, and take it with a smile.
It's great to connect with people like you.

Hey Aus, Thank you
It is nice to be a part of such a warm and supportive community. Even though we have separate lives, we're all in this together. Cheers

Thank you midwestguy Hi and welcome! May I ask what is your disability or illness called? I have a unique variation of EDS (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) which is a type of connective tissue disorder. Thanks for the welcome
