Welcome! I like the name and the book that goes with it. And honestly, I have a fascination with people who climb mountains like Everest and K2 but don't want to myself. I often just contemplate the "why?" of it. So no frigid clifftop tents for me, but forests are nice! That's also a crazy story about the spreading condition. Was it triggered by the ankle injury?

Thanks for the welcome mili It is hard to say exactly, but it is possible, at the time it sort of felt like compensating for one injury lead to another, like after my first ankle surgery I was in a cast/on crutches for 3 months then crutches and a boot for 2 months, during that time I had to rely on my "good" ankle, which ended up torn like the first one. I was training pretty hard at the time of the first tear, several hours a day, 7 days a week, and had a full time job, perhaps my body was depleted on a deeper level but I felt amazing while I was healthy lol.

Hey there, I recently found out about this forum and thought I would give it a try. Hmm what to share on here? I am 35yo, male, and my mobility is extremely limited, although I am not paralyzed. I have a rare genetic condition that started at age 19. I was independent and athletic until then. I spent most of my athletic years training in Kung Fu, and I have a 2 year college diploma. The condition was first thought to be a sports injury so I went undiagnosed/misdiagnosed for the next 10 years until finally getting a genetic diagnosis. I would describe myself as thoughtful and honest, with a good sense of humor. I like to have deep conversations, and I enjoy watching movies with 'based on a true story' being my favorite category. I have a wide variety of interests and also enjoy learning new skills and challenging myself. If your interests involve hiking up Mount Everest I won't be able to join you, but I can try to keep the tent warm. I'm interested in finding a woman who is honest, open minded, kind hearted and has respect for others, and of course, is okay with the fact I have a physical disability and am confined to a wheelchair (powerchair). If you are interested, message me and let's chat. - and hey to all the guys on here who are disabled! after lurking for a bit I was inspired by everyone's bravery/courage it took to put yourself out there and try to condense who you are into a post. feel free to send me a message anytime. Hey! Welcome to the group, I am new here too What's the best/your favorite "based on a true story" movie you've seen? Always looking for new movies even if it takes me 20 tries to get to the end without falling asleep LOL I am incredibly skilled at sleeping through pretty much every movie I've tried to watch, so it takes me a few tries to get to the end -_-

Good to meet you alchemist . I also have Ehlers Danlos (hypermobility type), and like you, had no idea until my early 20's. I had just gotten out of the Marine Corps and thought I was in pretty good condition. That was followed by years of misdiagnosis etc. Now I get by pretty normally with the exception that I use braces etc. I didn't get a diagnosis until after having kids and was totally unaware of EDS, much less the hereditary nature of it. After having kids genetic counseling was recommended but it was kinda moot at that point. Welcome to PD, I think you'll find the people here nice and hope you enjoy it here.

Brand new here, trying to explore parts of myself not yet explored I guess. It looks like you're fairly new, too. How do you like it so far?

Good morning I suppose I will join you in the “uncertain about how to sum up everything in an online post” boat. Long time lurker, first time participant - your post drew me in. I don’t know what to say, looking forward to getting to know you and being a part of the community!
