I got vaccinated this thursday; it was pretty strange. I got the shot at the state fair expo center in Syracyse NY, so basically a huge stadium. They had me cilantro go down a long cordoned off line, with a military people everywhere, and I had to get the ticket type person my ID and my digital ticket. It felt like something right out of I Am Legend or any zombie movie... Very disturbing. Then cilantro and I filed into the center of the expo center where there were may be 35 tables, all 12 feet apart. A nurse and military person were stationed at each table. The military person was doing data entry for each vaccine and the nurse was obviously giving the vaccine to people. We were then sent to table seven. The nurse who gave me the shot was niceand patient with me. We then were told in a socially distant waiting area with chairs that were 6 feet apart for 15 minutes to make sure I didn't have any reactions. At this point my arm started to hurt, it felt like someone had punched it (and it still does). And my appointment for the next shot is scheduled for three weeks from Thursday. And I've heard that one can cause symptoms, I'm not really looking forward to it, but I feel like it's worth it. I'm curious if anyone else has been vaccinated yet and what your experience was like? Did it feel like something out of a post apocalyptic movie to you too?

Yeah. I got vaccinated by Wake County in NC but it didn’t remind me of an apocalypse flick. Kinda would have been sweet if it did though! Maybe Jude Law running around in a home made Hazmat suit trying to sell hydrochloroquine mixed with bleach, and calling it “Nectar”, as Humvee convoys drive past.
But yeah, no military. Pretty chill, just went in and showed my ID and my appointment confirmation, then went to some other table and got shot up. The nurses were really bubbly and happy. They didn’t make me stay for 15 minutes, so I left and thankfully felt fine. Shoulder was a bit sore, and I had a bruise for a few days, but that sometimes happens with flu vaccine too. My second dose is on Tuesday!! Can’t wait.

Oh military people aren't scary, they are just warm bodies the government can use for free in a pinch.
Composite and I got the second dose of the vaccine last week. I was fine but composite had severe chills and was feverish the next day. Getting the first shot was a major pain since our county was pretty incompetent at managing the waiting list.

I'm scheduled to have my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine toward the end of March at my alma mater, SUNY Albany. I'm just hoping everything goes well.

I was fortunate to get my first shot on Wednesday. I got it through a community outreach program that mainly looks for older disabled folks right now, but they invited me in.
It was in a seedy part of town in the gym of a small community rec building. On the way there, it felt like a scam. But inside it was very well organized. I was done within five minutes! Like others, I waited for fifteen minutes to make sure I didn’t have a severe reaction. Over the next day, I didn’t even get a sore arm. Sweet!
I feel fortunate to have gotten the vaccine! I’ve also heard that flu symptoms are more common after the second shot, so I’m curious to see how I do.

i got my first shot on Thursday at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center where they hold graduations and concerts etc. there was a line outside but since I am gimp they let me right in and I parked next to some chairs(without wheels...whats the point?) that were being socially distant. there was a lot of military personnel helping out which did give the whole thing a Resident Evil type vibe but unfortunately Mila Jovovich never showed up which was very disappointing. a very nice older lady nurse gave me the vaccine and asked me if I had Duchenne muscular dystrophy then I had to wait 15 minutes before I could leave. luckily the only side effect i experienced was a sore arm but it is crazy that we are living in the middle of a deadly pandemic and yet people still deny it exists and refuse to wear a mask. literally the only times that I have gone anywhere in the last year has been to get a flu shot and the Covid vaccine, what a time to be alive smh.

I was vaccinated on Thursday, with the Oxford Astrazeneca one. The day after I was shivering, increased spasms, basically feeling like shit. I took a paracetamol every seven hours, it reduced the shivers and 36 hours later I was okay. So in 12 weeks time I have got the next one, happy days. I know that you can still get the Covid but it will give you a flu and not hopefully put you into hospital. A lot of my friends have the conspiracy theory that Bill Gates has placed a microchip in you. Some people are mad, anyway I have got to go, I am waiting a delivery of 20 Windows computers, and 14 boxes of Microsoft Word 🤣😂😁
Pete, 👍

I am yet to be vaccinated. Thank you very much for the info and for creating the thread. I think I will go for it only if I am formally or informally forced by the overall situation. Honestly speaking once the vulnerable ones are (allegedly) protected, I will absolutely care less than 0 about this virus thing. This is me...I don't expect you to share my opinion and I respect yours, no problem. If I am forced into getting vaccinated I will pose a strict condition, either getting the Gamaleya's (Sputnik) or facing my refusal. Hard to beat Russians on quality when it comes to vaccines or military air manufacturing...

I’m fully vaccinated (Pfizer). It was distributed through my workplace so I have no comment on the infrastructure of delivery. I found it quick and painless, though I did have mild side effects for a day after each injection (the first round gave me a sore arm, the second round more body aches and a big bruise, fatigue after both). Initially I had said I’d be happy not to be among the first guinea pigs vaccinated, but honestly when the opportunity came my way I was grateful and eager to get it. We never know all the risks in advance of any action and I’m ready to get out of the grey sameness of every day/week/month on lockdown.

I'm glad it seems like health considerations are being taken into account in most states in addition to age and type of job. Not enough unfortunately, it's been kind of a mess in a lot of states. A lot of the MD/SMA community has been left out of the prioritization so many are only getting it now by stretching how their state defines a long term care facility or a developmental disability. Good tool for how the states are giving vaccines to PWDs: disabilityhealth.jhu.edu/vaccine/

I'm glad you guys were able to get it. There's a chance that I'll be able to get it tomorrow. My folks, who are 65+, are getting their 2nd doses at our little po-dunk county fairgrounds and apparently they occasionally have unused vaccines at the end of the day. Fingers crossed that I can snag one! I miss my friends and you know, doing stuff.

I am still holding back but plan on getting it probably in the middle of the summer. I figure there's probably already a bunch of peeps lining up to get theirs where I am at. So I can stay hunkered down for another month or two now with the new vaccine getting approved. Can't wait to see people again! It's kind of surreal knowing what the last year has been for all of us and I can't wait to not feel like the Grim Reaper was constantly staring at my house every time somebody walks by, or delivers a package.

Was vacinnated 5 weeks ago, no side effects and no post apolytical scenario, a traditional british queue, no pushing or grumpiness everyone waiting their turn whilst observing socail distancing. Only thing to observe was the hard work and dedication of the medical team and the *grins* of the people after they had had their jabs. Gotta be honest i felt much better even though I knowe its not a *golden ticket* but it drasticly improves the odds!

Not vaccinated yet (CO is still in a much-too-complicated first phase), but I'll get it when it's time. I've heard the moral argument that PWD's should be higher priority, but whose grandma/grandpa are you willing to knock out of line in order to get in line?
