Hi there, sir.
This board is for people who are devotees of disabled men. There are plenty of groups for devotees of disabled women, which it appears you're aware of, and they may be better suited to you.

Well, if I may register a differing opinion. This **is** a board for people who are devotees if disabled men. And I certainly would never want it to be invaded by tons of guys who are devos of women, which could never happen anyway because of our excellent moderation. But...I, personally, would actually welcome, from time to time, a male dev of disabled women who is interested in the kinds of discussions that we have on devism and would like to contribute in a respectful way to our group. This is because I know that there are many of them who are thoughtful and intelligent and they can contribute in the respectful and intellectual (sometimes ) manner that we do here. And these people surely have something of value to add yet another perspective. Just my 2 cents.

I'd expected someone to say that. Quite frankly, I would not welcome it. There are dozens and dozens of groups for devotees of disabled women. There's no reason they can't have intelligent discussion. And, in addition, if you'd like to hear from a devotee of disabled women, there's nothing preventing you from visiting their groups and reading their discussions there.

There's no reason they can't have intelligent discussion. LOL! I guess you have a point there. I stand by my welcome though. I'd still like to hear their side of things, without having to go elsewhere! ;o)

ditto what e said.
this board is for devotees of disabled men. it has already expanded to include the disabled men themselves. which i think adds a great perspective.
further than that, i don't believe we should be opening it up to people other than the folks for whom it was intended. i think that would be a big mistake. i wouldn't be interested in sticking around if it ever went that route.

Absolutely. And once Dolly leaves... what's the point, really? But seriously, the wheelers here are bad enough (I so mean that every time I say it). Let's not dilute this thing to nothing.

I agree totally with E and Dolly. I do not want this board opened up to straight male devs. They have plenty of groups, boards and dating services that cater to them.

Just to be clear, I also don't want it "opened up" to straight male devs, for the same reasons. That's not what I was saying.

But Claire, how would we ever determine just who would be allowed? Would there be a quota? If we allow one, wouldn't it be pretty unfair not to allow all? I think it opens up a big can of worms.

Yeah, you're right. I was kind of just thinking, if one shows up and has something to say (not that this guy did, yet, but just sayin'), let him speak without being so frankly unwelcoming right off the bat. I sincerely doubt that many male devs would dig this place anyway. But...truth be told, I really don't care that much! We can perform an experiment...I'll post in all the male devotee forums that I'm starting a new forum for male devotees of female wheelers, except that no photos are allowed, it strictly to discuss devoteeism from an intellectual point of view. See how many actually join. *grin*

Minus the eye candy, aka photos, the audience would be limited; that would be a good thing. Transabled dot org has followed the no photos policy and it has served the purpose of that forum very well and I endorse it. There might be some attempts by some to join in the fantasy mode (fakes, multiple ID posters, teens, fantasy writers, etc.). They could be weeded out in short order. If your efforts to promote intellectual discussions among a sincere member base does not appear to take root, the forum could then be abandoned after a reasonable trial period. Then you could rest your case. Such a forum is just not sustainable. Still, it would be interesting just to see how many would join. /Art
