The Embattled Road (Lost and Found Series) - J.M. Madden www.amazon.com/Embattled-Road-Found-Series-ebook/dp/B00AIDLZFI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1357325542&sr=8-1&keywords=embattled+roadHere is a book that I found and that I really like. It's a set-up/introduction kind of novella, but I like the characters that are being introduced and I like the sneak-peak first chapter of the first book (Embattled Heart) which is supposed to be released early this year. Certainly one I am eagerly awaiting. The protagonists are together in rehab post suffering traumatic injuries in Iraq, but the actual stories are set 5 years later. This Kindle Book is Lending-Enabled so if anyone would like it, PM me and I will lend it out.

Ryoot, thanks for the info - I've been checking it out. Waiting mostly to have a confirmation that it is worth it, because then I will need to buy the whole series. If you say it is good, I'll buy it.

So after all my complaining about terrible books, I finally found a really good one! It's called Reprobate, book one in the Amsterdam Assassin series. It's an action series about a woman who works as an assassin. Her love interest is a blind guy, and OMG he is super hot AND realistic. I'll write a longer review soon but this is the best blind guy book I have found in quite a while. If you're sick of reading stupid romances, I highly recommend this one! It's self-published, and the author is looking to get noticed. On his blog he said he will give out free copies to anyone who will write a review of the book. Go for it! amsterdamassassin.wordpress.com/2012/12/25/review-reprobate/

Well, if you guys want to. But I have to warn you, it is disturbingly violent in places, so some of you may not want to read it. I don't want to force it on anyone. But personally I enjoyed it a lot. Like I said, if you hate romances, this is a good alternative.
I just posted my review on the reviews site and Amazon, so you can see the details there.

Oh my goodness that book sounds terrific, DG! Romance novels aren't really my thing, and Amsterdam Assassin seems so intriguing.
Maybe I'll buy this one. I don't have much time to write reviews and it isn't obviously a "dev book." Also I'm excited that it's a series! Wait, there's no paperback? I seriously need to invest in an e-reader sometime.

Celeste, do you have a smartphone? I read everything on one of multiple apps on my iPhone.

The Amazon Kindle app is free, and can be downloaded on any device, including a computer. Celeste, are you still doing reviews on your website?
Anyway the author Martyn Halm contacted us after I put up the review, and he's happy to do interviews with us. We don't really have a place for that here, but those of you who have blogs might consider it. Let me know if you are interested and I will forward you the email, or you can contact him directly through his website.

I would like to do more reviews, but for now I'm bogged down with school and scholarship applications. So as much as I'd love to write something, I have to prioritize. :/

I also posted a review for Reprobate on Amazon. Really cool book! Started reading the second book now called Pecadillo -- the beginning is very promising!

Has anyone read Geek Love? Its not a dev book in the same way the other books we discuss here but definitely has some interesting dev themes.

Ooh I just remembered an early dev mini series I love and a great book too - All The Rivers Run. Pretty much about a steam boat and all the characters on it. I am reading Tiger's Woman and it reminded me of this one. It is by Nancy Cato. The dev part is the the captain has an accident and is paralysed. Loads of clips on YouTube. I've just ordered myself another copy. Unfortunately it isn't on ebook format at the moment.
