This is a fun thread. Thank you for unearthing it @highhands89! My "something different" is that I've moved more than the average [non military] bear -- Around 15 times or so, across a handful of provinces, a dozen cities, and the USA/Canada border. why you move so much? I went to 16 different schools growing up but I was an Army brat Oh, the usual reasons: school, work, love, boredom...

I've lived in the same place for basically my entire life, but if I were to move anywhere it would be Vegas (Not for the most obvious reasons... it's where the vast majority of my friend group and career opportunities are)

I only realized this later in life, having discovered that people do hear in dreams like all sorts of sounds like speech, shouting, screaming, car honking, banging or booming sounds etc. As a child, I always thought that the dreams were supposed to be silent. Because my dreams are completely silent, there is dead silence. When I see people talking, they are just mouthing words and the surrounding sounds are totally missing. I wear hearing aids daily, I do hear sounds and also hear people talking, and I don't use sign language at all. I rely on hearing people speaking and lip reading. But somehow my dreams are always silent.

Yeah, sometimes I like them and some not so much. I do get some really funny and weird dreams, I don't dream much. But when I do, it's the really funny ones like involving being chased or bitten by animals especially the wild ones which are quite frequent, IDK, maybe because I like wildlife photography so much that I dream myself to be in a forest most of the time or some of the sad ones like where I see, who I miss badly, my dead family members like my grandparents, an uncle, and some of my friends who I lost tragically some years back.

dreaming is my favorite part of the day, I'm never paralyzed in my dreams. wildlife/nature sounds wonderful, better than dealing with people

I agree with you, animals are a lot better than people!! At least you know what to expect from them unlike the people who betray you most of the time.
I'm sure that you like to escape into your dreams rather than deal with the reality.
Most of us dream to escape the reality, how I wish we all could daydream a lot more! It is definitely better and more interesting than the present situation.

most definitely. It's the only thing close to vacation. I mean, normal people can take vacations and just escape their normal daily lives with work and everything. Paralysis and whatnot, you can't take a vacation from but dreaming helps out with that little bit

I can understand you perfectly.
Being disabled means your vacation goes into a whole new different level.
I prefer to take long vacations rather than those stupid overnight ones, too many things to pack and unpack. I have to charge my hearing aids before, carry all the related stuff like the charger, dehumidifier, the spares etc... And also at the airport security, I get harassed into removing my hearing aids repeatedly and then again try to communicate without them. I mean, I need my aids to converse!! How can you not understand that. Then they will stare and question at my HAs charger and dehumidifier etc... It gets very demeaning and embarrassing, ruining the holiday mood.
BTW, I also hate those vacations where people cram their schedule to the fullest. I mean the idea of a vacation is to enjoy, relax your leisure time, not have a stressful hectic routine ticking off the list.
