I am now officially a toe amputee. Not a big deal, but part of life moving forward. I continue to be stuck in two worlds, too disabled for many AB women, not disabled enough for PD women. For the record I am an ambulatory chair user, blind in one eye, and a right toe amputee. The toe is the least of my physical issues, as due to extensive neuropathy I have no feeling from mid-calf down, so no pain from the amputation. Anyone that wants a complete run down on the extent of my disability, feel free to ask. Cheers…As this post is half in jest, I am including a reply to a non-related post in hope of getting more visibility under my name with a new post.
I’ve never had the “can I pray for you” encounter, but I used to get a lot of weird shit in my chair in public. All too personal and paternalistic. Don’t seem to get as much the last couple of years. Maybe people have changed a bit, or the folks I encounter are different. With the prevalence of delivery services I don’t do nearly as much retail as I once did-I used to enjoy grocery shopping-meeting women at the store was always fun and a chance to flirt. Living in DC there are a lot of art galleries and I seem to meet interesting women at The Phillips Collection where I am a member, but in that environment one tends to meet more sophisticated people in general, so not terribly many encounters of the dumb kind. As most of the last nine years of my life were spent being primary care giver for my mom, so I’m looking to get out and create some encounters of any kind, strange or not.
Ladies if you are ever in the “Phillips” and see a muscular adult male, that looks like a middle linebacker in a chair, say “hi” it might be me. Women seem to like my upper body, and dating in a chair is fun thing, not terribly difficult at all. Ciao…
