Ok, I am noticing a trend. While the thought or visual of a disabled individual is enough the idea of lifting or using surroundings to our advantage is something that adds a cherry on top. Would you say that it is the overcoming the struggle that is cherry on top in the struggling to stand situation?

Would you say that it is the overcoming the struggle that is cherry on top in the struggling to stand situation? For me, it’s not about the overcoming so much as the adapting. Figuring out a way to do things that works for them and their specific, unique needs is what interests me. When a guy knows his body and knows how to best make it work for him is a turn on for me

Ok, adapting to the environment. This also makes sense when it comes to using the environment to maneuver, such as pushing off buildings or doors to move in a chair.

I don’t think it’s so much about the struggle. Maybe you guys do struggle, but I don’t see it like that or in that light. It’s more so your life with being paralyzed and in the chair. So, it’d be like seeing a guy in a chair sitting at a table with friends but him sitting in his wheelchair and the default chair off to the side of the table. It’s just overcoming the “norm” to what works for you. I guess that is adaptation.
I heard a good example that resonated with me early on, when I first began exploring this part of me. Someone suggested being a dev is like being attracted to a ginger. The ginger’s mere existence is attractive to people who like gingers. They don’t have to *do* anything special. Imguess this resonated with me because I don’t have a particular attraction to gingers, and it makes sense that their combination of unique traits and qualities drive people attracted to them wild.
For me, it’s paralysis. It’s the unique combination of things that comes with it: being in a wheelchair, using the wheelchair to get around, hopping up a curb, seeing your legs not move, watching you put your feet on the foot plate or that little move when you slide your feet back when they’ve crept forward through bumps in the pavement or something. You only really do/have these things happen when you’re paralyzed. I dunno. I hope this helps, swirlsss.

Blindness dev chiming in - when a blind guy stops to listen and recalculate his path when his cane hits something.

Blindness dev chiming in - when a blind guy stops to listen and recalculate his path when his cane hits something. Yes, this! Also everything else about a blind guy--how he holds his head, moves his hands, all of it. Basically everything that makes disability visible.
To answer the original question, in public I clock everything if I encounter a PWD. But whether or not I feel attraction depends on the usual factors: age, gender, handsome face, etc., if he is someone I would feel attracted to apart from the disability.

I have read some posts about what devotees find attractive or notice first when it comes to their disability of choice, specifically relating to physical characteristics. I may have missed a post like this one: When you are out in public and notice an individual with a disability, what would they be doing that would really make you do a second take? Or give you butterflies or that wonderful feeling? As opposed to just noticing an individual with a disability and their physical characteristics. As a paraplegic dev I love seeing a guy transfer from his chair into a car or another seat and then drag his legs over with his hands as they can't move independently. I also like to see him adjusting his legs on his footplate especially when he's wheeling over a bumpy surface and his slip all over the place because he has no control over them so has to physically move them back into position with his hands. Those are my two favourite scenarios, I will let you know if I think of any others.

I have definitely gotten quite a few stares when transferring into my car and taking my chair apart to put into my car. Although I do not believe they are devs, just more of in disbelief or curious than anything.
