I don't know, I'm kind of tired of every paralyzed person being a motivational Jesus, inspirational Moses, a fighter that never gives up, stronger than other mortal humans. Some have turned it into a business!! And it gets a little cheesy, as Triassic and I have talked about in our therapy sessions. lol Here's another 'superhero' au.youtube.com/watch?v=rHUMaov1OIY

"Quitters" video has it all backwards. This is admirable and heroic, going to China for a Stem Cell transplant? Please.
We've all seen this kind of thing before: not only the chasing of pipe dreams, but the applause society gives to those who do so.
The one person who commented on the video telling it like it was ("the sooner you get over your accident and get on with life (same goes for your family), the happier and more successful you gonna be. There ain't no cure, nor will there be in our lifetime - but life goes on.") got told to keep their opinions to themselves.
I say, in this case, quitters win.

the song is technically excellant tho; a great hook, good production values...but really listen to the lyrics closely and you go 'holy shit!'

i swear i'm gonna have tony video me as a 'motivational life coach'; but i'll be a real hardass...make 'em feel like shit for complaining about anything. 'you think your life is tough? you lost your job? your girlfriend is fucking someoone else? huh? huh? listen people; i face life everyday IN A WHEELCHAIR, but i keep going-so spare me your tale of woe...' ahaha! because thats what that racket is all about anyway.

unless they can lir convincingly to themselves all current sci people have been dealt that "life sentence",,,and i totally agree with all the stuff tony boney maroney & E have stated,,,i DO, however, wish to see the research continue and i feel it should be funded much better,,,case in point,,,,friday, at the national high school final rodeo, held her every year, a young man was trampled by the bull he tried to ride...boom!,,,spinal cord injury...the newspaper reports, if they can be believed, tell me that its an incomplete injury...if CR's dreams had come to fruition the therapies to repair the lesion this young man received could have been used to repair the damage,,,while i have accepted that i'm a "quitter" and made a good life despite the challenges, i would dearly love to still be around to see the next young man or woman or mother or father who has misfortune have the opportunity to be patched up and not have to spend 26 yrs & counting overcoming the challenges...do i believe that i will see that day....im not optimistic,,,the "5 year plan" is going on 20 years or so now and not really much closer...altho the things they do to treat acute sci that has reversed the number of complete vs. incomplete injuries is SOMETHING, at least...

Yeah Jeffy, I want to see research better funded, too! And actually I believe it's possible to fix the fuckin cord, but we're slow to move on things in this country, and let's not even mention the past 8 years of stalled engine. However, since i got hurt in 1980 there's always these 'superhero-fighters that are gonna damn well walk again cuz they ain't takin no for an answer.' The media ADORES that very story!! And I don't like that every quad/para that's just 'not staying in bed all day refusing to eat' is a fuckin HERO!!
I just came off the beach having a drink with friend. This dude kept staring at me the whole time right in my face. He probably thought I was one of those 'Jesus-clones' for not killing myself, but I'm just living,, man. It's that fucked up stereotype that wears on my nerves, at times.

im 100% with on that point, too, tony...it really pisses me off when ABs tll me i "such an inspiration" just becuz i choose to get ou there and lay it all on the line to squeeze the most out of life...as charles barkley said, "i am not a role model",,,im just a person who uses a chair to get from the parking lot to the dance floor...i choose to play hard, laff harder, and never, ever apologize for behavior that some may find inappropriate,,,im not doing anything different had i never been hurt,,,,anf w/c athletes, crips that choose to have children & raise them,,,the 1 gig i am most proud of in my life,,,we are just living life the best we can...adjusting to the world we find ourselves in, changing what we can change and accepting what we cant change...if somebody wants to admire me for my accomplishments,,,you for your music, a gal i know from powerquad for getting her doctorate, then admire the accompilshment and dont add the "all done while severely diabled"...sorry,,,i woke up with a burr under my saddle today...
