Duh, Muslims believe dogs are filthy animals, and everyone knows the Obama's are Muslim.

Dont think that poster had anything to do with Obama, but what was it all about? I know the accessability of some polling booths can be poor, but denying someone the right to vote at a polling station because they they are disabled wouldnt happen....would it?

There is also the (IMO likely) possibility that the photo was edited. I'm thinking either the addition of the logo or just the slash.

Or maybe it means the accessible booths are in a different spot.

Isn't it just an indication that the facility is not accessible? Not all polling places are accessible, from what I recall.

Thats true enough, quite often these polling stations are out in the countryside & its the only place that they can be located but the authorities could do more to fit them out with better access. Been available to review the accessability of the polling stations in the area where I work for over 15 years but never been approached to help. The local council know it because they used me to prepare a report on access in their offices years ago,but there is a lack of enthusiasm throughout all levels of government to do more than just tick boxes. There are issues of a lack of funds too.

i was lucky enuff to meet the new mexico secretary of state and she asked for my experiences with polling places,,,she said 1 of her major objectives was to make sure every polling place in the state was accessible to everyone regardless of disability...the only time i was not able to access my place to vote was way back in the early 80's...i made a call to complain & by the next election they had moved to an accessible building..

You know, I just realized, when I early voted there was an elderly lady there voting, she was in a chair, and there were like 3 ppl around her and the machine was up so high that she couldn't possibly see the names. I don't remember seeing any that were lower either. The place is accessible as in there's a ramp and I think the path is fairly clear. But how hard would that be? To lower one, I mean.

At my voting location there was a lowered booth, but, as I mentioned elsewhere, no ready ramp to get in, though they were prepared to assemble a portable one for me.

My local location that I vote is accessable, but there are lesser, and non-accessable polling places. Usually each district has to 'comply with ADA Standards' (which the level of accomidation that is legal can be a bit murky (or so the officials say))...so while the nearest polling location may not be accessable there usually is one within most areas, but not all, I'm sure.
As for the picture, if it isn't 'shopped', then it likely doesn't have insidious meaning, it could very well just mean that there is no accessable voting booths at that area/location. There are places that (and I do think this is helpful) inform people that they are not accessable, which I think helps so you know not to waste your time at such a place...and many places just aren't very well able to become accessable. The cities that I frequent, are old colonial cities from the earliest days of settling in the U.S.; many of the 'newer' buildings are mid-ninteenth century buildings, and some of them just aren't too accessable, not matter what you try to do to them.

My local location is not accessable, is in a school with no access. I tend to do a postal vote instead.
