thanks for the heads up on that one, scarlett! i think some women, particularly ones who are more on the adventurous side, might find sex with a guy in a wheelchair interesting just because it's different. it may appeal to women who like to be dominant, and it probably also appeals to people who have broad-scope 'medical' fetishes. who knows, it also may be the next "taboo" thing to receive more acceptance now that homosexuality has been pretty much mainstreamed. I thought about the adventurous type seeing something different, as well. Dom females didn't dawn on me, probably because I'm not into that? lol But that sure could be seen as a Top position. And I also thought that it might become the latest accepted trend, for the reason you've stated, Dolly.

so, sadly, I think the brief shining moment is over. Last night's episode paired Sean with this woman, Daphne, who had an adult baby kink thing. The previews had showed him jumping out a bed going, "A diaper!!??" and from there, I could pretty much predict how things would turn out. And they went just like I thought they would. He finds out she has a thing for adult babies, she finds out he can walk. Not the most favorable portrayal of the woman because it suggested she was only turned on by what she perceived as helplessness. Plus, the sex scenes last night were nothing to write home about.

Okay, that piqued my curiosity. Why, ultimately, was he faking being in a wheelchair?

Claire, he got stabbed multiple times and at first legitimately needed it while his nerves healed. During that time, his family, who regularly treats him like rubbish, became very caring and helpful. Because he claimed he couldn't perform surgery while in the chair, he spent his time teaching med students, many of whom really venerated him and saw him as a plastic surgery legend. He's basically spent twenty years taking care of his crazy family and trying to keep it together for them, and he has borne a lot of responsibility. After he got stabbed that responsibility was lifted and people started taking care of him -- so even once he had healed and could walk again, he faked needing the chair because he liked the fringe benefits.

Claire, do you know that there was a Nip/Tuck episode a few years ago featuring BIID? I thought they handled it very well. A patient came in requesting to have his leg amputated. The doctors initally refused. There were a few scenes in which he talked about his condition and how it felt. Later, after the man shot himself in the leg, the doctor declared that it *had* to be amputated, clearly respecting the patient's desire.

I knew that some show made an episode like that but I didn't know that it was Nip/Tuck (or if I did, I forgot). I confess I hardly watch TV at all. Maybe I should!
Okay I just looked this up quickly...Nip/Tuck, CSI, Grey's Anatomy, and Casualty in the UK have all done episodes on BIID. It seems to have found its way into popular culture, but I'm not sure that's a good thing. I tend to automatically assume that they'll have treated us like psychotic freaks. Someday I really have to see those episodes myself and form my own opinion!

I vivdly remember the Casualty episode about BIID, when a woman put her leg on the railway track having first called an ambulance. The staff became suspicious very quickly, because of the order of events. But I can't precisely recall what happened to her at the end.
