Ok, I need to enlist the help of the devs out there. I had a friend that recently got a tattoo. I was there and during that time I came up with the idea to put a eye ball on each one of my feet. But, I was was thinking last night it also might be cool to get a angel and devil instead. I was thinking getting them in a fem look. I was thinking to have them as tastefully as possible. However, I don't want to be one of those guys. I do think they can be tasteful. What do you ladies think, and dudes. I am getting them for my bday next week and I am looking for some good feedback. So, help a bro out.

Chan is the tat expert and hopefully she'll chime in. As a regular run of the mill dev, though, anything (tasteful and within reason) that will call attention to your legs and feet is just a plus. Especially if you post pictures! hehe

I think whatever you get it's most important that it means something to YOU.

Clover is right. Take your time & think it over. Whatever you choose, you'd better want it and like it because you're going to see it every day. Once it's there, there's no turning back (unless you cover it with a different tattoo or have it lasered off).

This guy is without a doubt one of the most sought after tattoo artists in my city, certainly my favorite: www.getmooretattoos.com/He has inked half a dozen of my friends over the years. Sick work. Super bold and bright. I'm still working out a leg or knee piece, myself. I can't say that I like the layout of his new website as much as his old one though. It's one of those fancy Flash deals. It's kind of tedious navigating around it, but totally worth the effort if you're looking for ideas. You can zoom in on the small pictures by right clicking.

The feet are not a great place to get a tattoo, because the skin does not take the ink well. I've seen people with tattoos on the tops of the feet or toes, and the ink tends to run very quickly, it ends up looking like a gray blob. Maybe ok if you're getting something simple like an eye, but for anything with detail, it won't stay sharp for more than a year or two. If you want something complex that won't look like crap, you should find a good shop and go consult with the artist in person at least once before you actually get it done. Get his or her advice, see photos of previous work, and come back later to see sketches. They don't expect you to just show up off the street and get inked right on the spot.

Man, do you go barefoot a lot? Nobody will get to see em, will they? I think you should just label them...RIGHT and LEFT!! Make it easier to put on shoes...

Devo girl pretty much said it all. Tattoos on the feet can be sketchy because, often, they don't heal out well. For the most part that's only because the average person can't afford to walk around barefoot or in flip-flops while their tattoo is healing. It's the constant rubbing of the sock and shoe that aggravate the scabs or slough them off bit by bit.
And if you damage your scabs or pick them off before they're ready to fall off, you're basically picking those pieces of your tattoo off.
So anyway, I've actually seen a woman who wore socks and shoes the entire time her tattoo was healing, and it turned out fine. That's unusual, though. But maybe because you aren't actually walking around and sliding your feet up and down against the sock/shoe you'd be safe. But it's hard to say.
You can go for the feet if you really want, and they may turn out fine. Just be aware that they're normally hard to heal out well.

well...personally i'm not settling for anything less than full face moko, with the design gouged into my face with a piece of razor sharp shell, the ink ground directly into the bleeding wounds and all traditional taboos observed. now THAT'S A TATTOO. the maori did not fuck around...

Thanks for all the great advice. I know I am a wuss for putting it where can't feel. But, whatever. I don't care. I am continuing to do research on what I am going to do. I will let all of you know what I decide.

yo yoell...i would have 2 concerns about having a tat on my feet,,,how is your circulation down there?...do u have a problem with swelling?...and secondly, if you are subject to autotomic dysreflexia being tatted anywhere below your lesion could set off AD,,,voluntary infliction of pain ...dont you know thats why wee do it,,,,the tattoo is just to let us remember

One thing to think about is the size and the amount of detail you want in the tattoo when deciding on the spot. I personally love foot tattoos. However, from personal experiece they are a b*tch to heal. I made the mistake of getting mine done in november and since i live in NY it was way too cold for flip flops. I had to get it retouched within a couple of months. After that I didnt care if i froze or looked like a moron, I rocked my flip flops in the winter. After that it healed up greatg and in my opinion looks awesome. But really thin k long and hard before choosing a design and a spot to put it. I don't recommend just picking a piece of flash of the wall. Good luck with whatever you end up doing!
