Hi folks. Mostly I lurk on this board - for various reasons. But seeing as you have all been talking about writing talent on another thread recently I wanted to pay tribute to the Irish writer and Whitbread award winner Christopher Nolan, who died just the other day, aged 43. He had severe cerebral palsy and was unable to speak or move, but wrote several astonishing books, the first at the age of 15 and won his Whitbread award at the age of 22. People may know him from his autobiography, Under The Eye of the Clock, which was made into a film some years ago starring Daniel Day Lewis as Christy and Brenda Fricker as his mother. If you don't know his work I urge you to give it a try. You can read more here: www.rte.ie/arts/2009/0220/nolanc.html

Thanks for the notice, but your information is a little confused. The movie with Daniel Day Lewis is called My Left Foot, and it was about Christy Brown, a different Irish writer who also had CP. He lived from 1932-1981, so he grew up in a much different time. Here is the Wikipedia entry for him: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christy_BrownThe Pogues also wrote a song about him called "Down All the Days" which was also the title of one of his books: Christy Brown was a clown about town Now a man of renown from Dingle to Down It's on the album Peace & Love.
