I grew up in upstate New York, so I'm no stranger to cold weather. Learned how to drive in it, skied, played ice hockey, etc. I generally laugh at my neighbors as they panic at the forecast of a light dusting. I generally go back up to my brother and sisters' places for the Christmas season, so I have been in the snow since my accident.
I'm currently living in Virginia, and we got hit pretty well last night. Of course the plows won't get to the side streets, and the local kids know nothing about earning a buck by shoveling driveways out for people.
Going out in my chair generally is a mess with the potential of getting stuck, and going on my pros with canes is treacherous if there's ice underneath.
I hate feeling trapped.

That's why I jumped on a jet almost two years after my accident in Maryland bound for Florida. But I grew up in Fla, and knew what I was missing up there. The first Winter I was up there post injury just about killed me. I just couldn't handle the cold like I did before wreck.

The cold is bad but tolerable. Snow and ice however...thats the killer. Sure there is public transportation in Calgary, sure we have bylaws saying home owners must clear their side walks within 24 hours of a snow fall. Have you ever tried to wheel through....lets keep it easy...three inches of fresh snow? lol Its real easy for the first ten feet....then your gloves soak through...then you start losing your grip on your wheels...THEN you need to hold your wheels much tighter just to get half the distance.....Here is the kicker my company came through for me this winter in a big way. They paid for my parking spot! I have driven to work 90% of this winter. One day my truck doesn't start..dead battery I swear I curse GMC....I take the bus no biggy it was clear the whole way to the stop. So I am sitting at the stop and I look across the street where the stop to come back home is...I see the road..then 2 feet of packed snow and ice covering that side...I look for the cut curb..3 FEET of snow and ice.
I hate winter.

Snow sucks. People who don't properly shovel and plow the snow suck even worse.

Snow. It seems like just yesterday that I couldn't get enough of it... now I can't stand it. Although it looks great coming down, it's no good to me once it starts accumulating. However, I seem to have traded it in for rain, which I don't feel too good about either. Oh well, it looks like Spring is well on its way!

I would kill for a nearly 50 degree day right about now. Instead there is fresh snow on the ground and winter seems like it will never be over:(

I've been a student at the University here in Madison for 5 years now and its ridiculous how much I hate snow. Last winter we smashed the records for amount of snow, and it was just a nightmare getting places on campus. I think there's a lot bad about global warming, but if it will stop some of this snow, I can live with it. If the snow would just fall on the grass and trees, its great that way...

I just want to whine for a second... I'm in Tennessee, and Saturday it was a beautiful and sunny 70 degrees. Today our high is 40 something with a chance of snow. SNOW! Then it's supposed to be 70 again by Thursday.
This is the April in the south... snow now is wrong. Just wrong. When they say April showers I'm pretty sure that it didn't mean SNOW showers. Gah! Everything's gonna die and we'll have a brown spring again.
Whining done....

We had snow two or three times this winter- fun but not too much to be annoying

Wow, thanks, Windy, I'm all cheered up now. lol. It's not me I'm worried about... it's the plants. The plants! Who didn't get the weather report and have been sprouting and blooming with beautifully ignorant abandon. Poor plants.

lol a high of 40 with snow showers is t-shirt and shorts weather for me....
...I'm sure they'll survive, they manage rather well where I'm originally from.
