hello,
i have a bit of a strange request. i've been doing some visual art lately; medium-large drawings/paintings on paper of a semi-abstract nature in which i use a lot of handwritten script. i write lines or blocks of text on the paper and incorporate it into the piece.
it's all been going quite well except that i'm starting to run out of stuff to write. i've got the idea that i'd like perhaps to use verse of some kind-rhyming or not, free, blank, whatever...,lyrics too; anything of a poetical nature. but i'm not a poet myself, and i don't want to just appropriate something from a book. i'd like to use original stuff.
so...i know that some of you are writers of verse, poems, lyrics, so i thought i'd see who had material they'd be willing to let me use in these drawings. of course i'd credit the author on the piece itself-either alongside my signature or on the back-whichever appropriate.
anyone can pm me to discuss further. my email is douglasrandolph@aol.com, for any lurkers who might be interested. of course i don't want anyone to be insulted if i DON'T use their work....because this is such an unusual venue; if i can't use it it doesn't mean i think its no good.

there once was a girl from madras who possesed a magnificent ass not rounded and pink, as you probably think but grey, had long ears and ate grass...

But then it'd have to eat gorse... because arse doesn't rhyme with grass. And where would she be from? Personally, I like the way ass rolls out of one's mouth. Nice and simple. I really love it coming out of a southern US mouth because the a swings low and flat and is extended. The esses sliding through the teeth, undisturbed by an extraneous R. Aaaaassss... it's lovely in a low, coarse kind of way. If you extend arse that way you sound like a pirate.

I'd love to help Tri but tortured, raving madness is about all I have to offer. Not that I'm tortured and raving mad all the time, but its the only time I attempt poetry! And it really sucks, anyway. lol

We say graaaass like you guys pronounce Mazda if you understand what I mean? The emphasis is on the ra...as in grah...ss, if that makes any sense? And hence arse sounds like ahh...rse! It does make sense. But, I don't know, fubb, to me it's not about the ah's or the aaaa's but rather about the R. To me, it's in the wrong place for rhyming. In the front of the ah, or aa in grass (ra) and in arse it comes at the end (ar). ;D I'm not trying to be a rhyming nazi, just saying where I was coming from. If it rhymes to you then that's cool. I love the way you (Aussies, Brits and all those other lovely accents) pronounce things. I am currently mourning my loss of BBC America. I'm gonna have to go rent some movies to get my fix. Although I did recently discover worldwide on line radio...that's cool. (I know, I'm a little slow. )

my favorite accent is a NZ one; they clip most vowels so short. i once heard a kiwi tv presenter pronounce Radiohead as 'rydio-hid'.
