I spent the weekend in Philly to visit the Cezanne exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Had a great time! The museum is fairly accessible, but the great thing that happened was the guards that were running the show put me right through. The line had an hour plus wait, and the ladies got me a ticket and right into the hall in 5 minutes.
The first time being in a chair ever got me ahead of anything. Much love to the women at the Philadelphia Museum of Art! One lady told me she loved my sandals LOL!

How did you get from DC to Philly and how easy was it to get there in a chair?

I drove, the museum has a lot of reserved parking and an easy access entrance close by.

Thats the good thing about museums, they tend to be in old buildings where the front entrance doesn't have wheelchair access,so you have to go in by a side door where there's no queue.Very helpful indeed

i've never much understood the appeal of cezanne.....compared to the other french impressionists he seems quite bland and uninspired.

I've never been all too impressed by Cezanne, either, but it's still an interesting experience being exposed to his work.

Cezanne is a "post impressionist." His work is truly pioneering, he is the link from Impressionism to Cubism. Picasso and Mattise both called him "the father of us all."
His genius and importance in the furthering of western culture is beyond question!

I am going to sound very uncultured, but I actually was in Philly a couple of weeks ago and went to the museum with a couple of friends of mine, one of whom is an art teacher. Well, I definitely lacked her appreciation for Cezanne, and much of the art in general. I am not an art person. I appreciate art for what it means to other people, but for me I see a pretty picture and that is about it, it has never had much of an im pact. Although, religous art and iconography is the one exception. Overall, I had much more fuin at the Philly zombie crawl and the one dollar PBR's than the museum, but to each his own right;) ?

I always thought he ran up the stairs to a public library. And I was in Philly a few years ago, lol. We never made it to the museum. We did the usual tourist-trap stuff (Ben Franklin's house, Liberty Bell, etc)
Cheesesteaks to die for!

I've never been in that kind of museum (with masterpieces) But... don´t kill me! (lol)... I don´t like Cezanne! I love Michelangelo Merisi, obviously I like Vermeer... and Rembrandt (I prefer the darker paintings). And from Cezanne's time, I like Delacroix
