I'm kind of on the fence, leaning toward yes, love at first sight exists. But I don't think that love alone will necessarily create a relationship or keep one going. I think that, in America, love is often viewed in unrealistic ways. It's expected to conquer all when, in reality (and my opinion), it takes consciousness and effort to make a relationship work. And I have great respect for the couples I know who are willing to invest that in their relationships. 0o0o0o, and I just watched a film that I very much enjoyed on this topic (kinda) called "How Will We Love?" I agree. I used to think otherwise; that true love didn't require work or that it could conquer all - but experience at the school of hard knocks has taught me that you're right with this opinion... although I would substitute the word effort for work.

I don't think of love as an emotion, but rather an action... a verb... a decision.
You decide to love someone. It's something you DO. You never have to wonder if someone loves you because you can see them loving you, the action of them loving you.
Your love toward someone is INDEPENDENT of how they treat you. We see this with parents all the time. Most parents decided before their children were even born to love their kids. And they do, regardless of how badly that child treats that parent.
So, can you have love at first sight? You can if you choose to. The thing is, after getting to know the person better, you may change your mind. And then again, you may not...

I´ve read all the comments and yesterday, while I had an insomme night, I remembered... Once I felt a terrible love (the kind that is extremely happy and terrible painful)... and it was at first sight. Almost 6 yeas ago... when I saw the eco of my baby, I had 8 weeks of pregnancy and I saw this: img220.imageshack.us/img220/8065/ecograf.jpgThe same feeling is still there and I feel that kind of sudden rush of love every time I look my little girl. So... I dont believe in love at first sight when we talk of men
