There's a new indie movie opening this weekend called Beeswax that features a para woman as the main character: I know, we're not so into the wheeler women here, and these mumblecore indie films are not for everyone, but this one looks really interesting to me. From what I can tell from the trailer and early reviews, it's not about her disability, it's just one part of her character: www.avclub.com/articles/beeswax,31378/ She's a character who just happens to be a wheeler, and they even show her having sex with a good-looking guy. Could this be a sign of progress?

PS the actress really is a para. So, yes, I think definitely progress.

Thanks for the 'heads-up' devodiva. Not all of us are ladies, some of us are males and although a dis, I still find plausible portrails of disabled females interesting.
Regards, Mike

That actually looks kind of good. I'd like to see it. Also, I totally thought you said "Indian" movie and not "indie," so the whole time I was watching the trailer I was thinking, "Wow, there aren't many Indians in this; they cast a white girl as the lead??" Definitely not a Bollywood production

Definitely not a Bollywood production I had actually thought the same thing, as I clicked on the link - thought it said Indian, and instead of mumblecore, I thought it said 'Mumbai', thus furthering my belief that is was some type of Bollywood material...
