I suppose you are not referring to the common things of life, as I donĀ“t want to fall into the stereotype saying that what makes me happy is my daughter and my partner (though I often want to kill them! LOL) So, I can say that what makes me amazing and wonderfully happy is when I read a book whose grammar and storyline achieve to generate a perfect world of images and fantasies in my mind. When a book does take me to that place, I can say I'm in a perfect state of ecstasy.

Authenticity. In any relationship, whether it be a friend, a lover, a family member. Feeling like someone is being genuinely themselves and honest with me, and I can be 100% myself with them. If that is there, I am happy in a relationship.
In terms of moment to moment happiness...... A glass of great wine, an amazing concert by an artist I love, an evening spent laughing with good friends and the sound of my kids playing without a care in the world.

The feeling that Im doing something important. It doesnt matter if its something big, like what career I choose, or something small, like doing an errand for a friend. Makes me feel good.

The feeling that Im doing something important. It doesnt matter if its something big, like what career I choose, or something small, like doing an errand for a friend. Makes me feel good. this is a great question ... and its so hard to answer ... i was going to agree with fuzzy ... and say when im serving / working im happy. so if im like working for money or ... if im making art or listening to someones story and maybe helping them get over even the smallest hump in life ... then im happy. but to be eustatic ... like really really F..ing happy .... its all about the magic of that new idea . that new creative flow... when that blank canvass is not scary anymore cos it has the beging of something on it.... when the instaltion starts to take form... the moment of endless posibilitys. .... like when you so dont want to stop ... you dont want to eat, drink, sleep ... its all about getting it out of your head and into something tangable ... that maybe one day... can be called art. ps sorry about the spelling

There are so many things that would make me happy & I could write a shopping list sized post on it ,so i will choose one randomly that was on my mind recently.
Being awake in the middle of the night with some music turned up low, nothing going on outside at all.The feeling of peace it can give is priceless, away from all the pressures & irritations of day-to-day life.

I love how varied everyone's answers are! A LOT of things make me extremely happy, like spending time with my dog, picking veggies and herbs from the garden, beautiful photos, etc.
The thing that makes me existentially happy, and gives me that sense of universal peace and perfection? (this sounds corny, but anyone who knows the feeling will see past that!) Being at one with nature. It can be achieved (for me) in lots of ways, hiking for a few days, swimming in the sea or a freezing river, and anything to do with snow and ice (and also birds, and really strenuous exercise).
It's amazing how happy I feel after just reading and thinking about what makes others/myself jocund! Please excuse me while I go and do a happy dance. ;D

- to smell the scent of roses, old english roses from tea rose to that real dark almost oriental scent some roses have - take a walk in the sunset when the sky turns from blue to dark blue to almost black - read a poem which combines wisdom and the beauty of words - to communicate with people and being allowed to be all myself, no need to hide something, no need to pretend something - find a long forgotten song on youtube or i-tunes (and then put it on my i-pod and have it with me all the time) - taking arabic-lessons

I can't believe I forgot to mention snuggling! One of my favourite words, and activities (when I can bribe my partner!).

It must be so amazing to be so creative! My mum is, and she would just get lost in stuff for days sometimes! I really love my camera (well, both of them), but that whole process/headstate sounds so potent.

Good 'complicated' question, DD....enjoying people's responses. Many things bring me happiness, and i'm generally a 'happy' person, but of course, there are things that get me slightly down, but hey, that's life...not just disabled-life!!
Ok, i'll list my Tony's Top Ten things that bring happiness: 1. Music really elevates me..takes me out of myself. I'm constantly in love with how a song can hit the right nerve, say it just right. Playing music was a different feeling, and i miss that very much, but i'm humbled by other artists so much. Not sure what my world would feel like without itunes....lol 2. A great cup of coffee is happiness!! 3. This damn computer entertains me a lot, so, guess that's happiness. 4. Improving my castle makes me happy...it's great feeling to own ur home, improve it with projects and the satisfaction I get from living with the results is amazing to me. I didn't grow up with a nice/stable home, and as a kid, i wanted one soooo bad. So, it means LOT to me now. 5. Nothing brings happiness to me quite like making a girl of my interest 'feel good.' There's great happiness in that... 6. The Sun brigs me great happiness...i daydream there while those strong warm rays brown my skin. 7. Sports bring lot of happiness - when my team is winning!! i.e. Rays catching Red Sox for playoff spot....lol 8. Love my relationships with friends...makes me feel 'normal.' ; ) 9. Eating great food!!! 10. I don't do it often, but when I write something that people really FEEL, it can be great sense of accomplishment, or happiness. I feel lucky to be able to touch people with writing, without being a published author. Touching people with music or writing is an addictive feeling...it's similar to a drug!!
