So I'm on a military base getting ready to start training for the Warrior Games, and I just thought it was interesting that last year this site was banned shortly after I got here. This year it is up and running (so far).
I was trying to think of why this would happen, but I almost wonder if it is because of allowing gays into the military now. I originally was thinking it got banned because of the devotee/disability content. We'll see if it still works during the rest of my stay here.

Wonk, in short no, it doesn't fully apply to the military. You sign a legal contract before you go to boot camp. I'm guessing in there some liberties are taken away. I was reading recently where a Marine was going to get discharged because of him constantly stating his mind about Obama.
Kinda like the Arkansas coach who just got fired because of having an affair. Last I checked that wasn't against the law, but he also signed a contract that had a "good behavior/stand up citizen" kind of clause. I know that's not the technical term but it's early here, and I need to get going soon.
Not trying to defend any of this, but I just thought it was an interesting topic of censorship taking place in a military base that involved this website.

Wow! My comment was firmly tongue in cheek. I had no idea that it really is different.

I know that's not the technical term but it's early here, and I need to get going soon. Patrino's biggest problem is he lied point-blank to his employers. I doubt he would've been fired for his affair or his initial cover-up, but when the AD gave him an opportunity to come clean about everything, he didn't take it. Don't get me wrong, part of the problem is the fact he defamed the university, but a sex scandal these days is easy-peasy for any institution to handle. A lot of people, however, take being lied to directly as an insult (crazy, I know). … and now that my little sports-related detour is complete, I'll steer this thread back on topic: censorship sucks.

Are you talking about the Paradevo site getting blocked, marineamp? It should have nothing to do with gays in the military....usually they block sites with any sexual content or pornographic content which I would not think Paradevo falls under that category... They just don't want you to have any fun... I am wondering why they would block it, who even decided what gets blocked and how do they know what this site is about?

Wow! My comment was firmly tongue in cheek. I had no idea that it really is different. The military laws are even diffrent, a service member can be arrested for adultry and go to jail. The laws are call The USCMJ (that stands for Uninted States Code of Military Justice) , they are very diffrent from civilan laws, there is even no double jepordy law which meens you can be tried for the same crime more than once.

king cripple: I do actually know the story behind that. I also know I wasn't starting a thread on espn.com and the majority of the audience reading this probably has no clue what transpired with arkansas football. So I was just following the KISS format (keep it simple stupid).
Dani: I wasn't saying this site was blocked because of the topic gays in the military, but because of there sexual content involving gays. I still have no real idea why it was blocked last year and not this year. The only thing that I can think of that has changed in the military over the last year is the gays in the military topic.
It also sounds like you have some experience with some military matters seeing how you know some of their internet policies. Did you work on a base or something?
Ray is right, I actually have a close friend that could have been tried for adultery if they ever found out he was the one who slept with a Sgt. Major's wife. On his behalf he had no idea who she was until she was crying after the deed was done and informed him who she was and who her husband was. He's now in the Army.
Audrewsmith: no he won't be tried in Afghanistan.

So I was just following the KISS format (keep it simple stupid). I, too, know you weren't starting a post on a sports forum. While I'll readily concede that the majority of readers here probably don't know about the events at Arkansas, a lot of people that do know about it all still think he was fired for having an affair. Ultimately, man, I didn't bring up the topic because I'm some prick member of the sports police. I brought it up simply to create a sidebar where maybe you or someone else might care to bullsh*t about sports for a minute. Nobody took the bait. All the best, man. I hope your access to the site/forum lasts the duration.

Kingcripple, he has been advised against starting or encouraging side topics (like sports) here many times by yours truly. I've said it several times before, I'm not a fan of any of those discussions and would prefer this board center abound disability and devotee related topics. I do realize there is a place for those discussions and many others enjoy them. Personally, I'm glad no one took your bait. I'm sure there are plenty of sports forums to discuss that Arkansas incident. Let's focus on the disability related stuff here

Just a thought, but could it be due to having all the fiction now on a separate site? Maybe I've got my timing wrong, though...good luck for the games, though!

Marineamp is right he will not be tried in Afganistan, but not because he couldn't be but because there is a pact in place on how to deal with service members that break laws while on active duty in other countyrs.
