Any other guys here play wheelchair rugby? I practice with my local team and this weekend my cousin (who has CP) is coming to town with her team and since they are short handed I get to play with her. I gotta say I love smashing into guys.

Do you just count as a super-high classification? (I'm assuming you don't have limb impairment up top, correct?)

I have played wc-rugby for 5 years, but had to stop due to physical limitations. Had a lot of fun playing. Apparently a 2pointer with torso-mobility, long arms and fairly decent hand-function comes in handy . Because I was and still am a featherweight I've seen my fair share of floor from close by, but with proper protection I managed to survive mostly unharmed.

I am too able-bodied to even be classified. I just know a quad that I got to play some wheelchair basketball and then he got me to play some quad rugby. Their team doesn't have enough guys to scrimmage among themselves so they are always recruiting people they know to come fill in for numbers. They really like it when I come play because I have a lot of chair experience and I'm a pain in their ass to try and stop. I felt bad initially, but they said there are guys out there that have my speed on other teams and it is great to practice with me on the other team.
Yesterday, my team had an able body kid, and single above amputee, along with a few one pointers and a higher level quad that has some experience. We usually end up having a huge advantage when it comes to ball handling, but they are usually not so great or completely lousy about chair positioning. Which means we score a lot of points, but usually let them score as well. I've always got a one pointer and a higher level guys shadowing me and trying to lock me down.
The good thing about falling in a wheelchair is you're not falling very far. I ended up on the ground 3 times yesterday, one of which was my own fault. But I got some really good hits on some of the guys, popped a wheel off the axle and just stunned some other guys. However I am feeling it this morning, my legs are usually really sore from all the contact.

I must have been overtired last night, its working this time. Yes,I was looking at the competition schedule.Disappointing that its starting so late in the Games,I won't get chance to see it live,so will have to make do with watching it on tv. I was having difficulty finding information on the scheduling of the documentaries due to be aired this year.

Same here. I used to play football and rugby is the only sport that appeals. Why isn't there an all Para league?

There's a British program called 'inside incredible athletes', that features two members of GBs WC rugby team. It's an interesting show as it looks into the sports science and way the body performs regarding paralympic athletes.
