Hello out there! I'm a 28-year old straight male from Ottawa that was diagnosed with tethered spinal cord syndrome when I was about ten. Was always a bit of a brainy, bookish type, which made this a lot easier to cope with when I was younger! My injury is at about the L2-L4 level (I honestly can't remember)., so after a pile of surgery during my adolescence, I mostly use crutches and a leg brace to get around these days (except in airports, because a) airports are the devil and b) part of me is still in high school and remembers how fun it was to find an empty hallway and just race down it at full speed. ). I hadn't really imagined there were female devotees, honestly, and I'm kind of curious about the dynamic, so I'm definitely looking forward to getting to know this community and chatting with you all. Happy holidays!

Hi, great first post. You also get treated like a VIP sometimes in an airport eg getting through the flight attendant check in.
It sounds like you have a condition very similar to my husband. His spinal cord separates and joins again. It is termed as a form of spina bifida, the proper name is Diastematomyelia. And it is hard to answer when people ask if he can walk because although he uses crutches, he doesn't really walk with them, more of a swing action.
Anyway, welcome and I look forward to hearing more from you.
