There is also a move called in darkness. It's about a blind women. I really liked it. It good spy movie but it wasn't devy for me. I just watched it yesterday!! I love Natalie Dormer. Did you know she also co-wrote the screen play? I really enjoyed it. It wasn't devvy for me either, but it's a good thriller. 😁

This looks like it could be good. Even if it turns out not to be super devvy, I really like Kevin Hart. I think it will be a little devvy for me !

I started watching Netflix's 3%, and one of the primary characters is a para. I'm a few episodes in and there have been some pretty devvy bits. I'm actually enjoying the show as a whole, which is refreshing, since most devvy things I end up watching barely interest me at all. It's a really solid dystopian/sci-fi drama. Disclaimers: His chair is a complete piece of crap, but it's in keeeping with the storyline so I can deal. Also, it's a Brazilian show and I'm enjoying watching it in the original Portuguese with subtitles, but there's a dubbed option if that's more your thing. www.netflix.com/title/80074220

Thank you all for your movie-suggestions! I'll add some of my own to the list - all of them feature characters with disabilities. Firstly an oldie: The Shock (1923) Then there are two Chinese TV series, both of which have a disabled character. I had never watched anything like this before, so it took me a while to get used to a slightly different story-telling and visuals but overall I liked both of them. Here are the links if you want to give them a try: Sound of the Desert: The Flame's Daughter: www.viki.com/videos/1126186v-the-flames-daughter-episode-1And currently I'm keeping an eye on a Korean romantic drama which is about to conclude in two days. Where Stars Land: www.viki.com/videos/1138693v-where-stars-land-episode-1Finally, I think it hasn't been mentioned here yet that there is a movie based on Andrea Bocelli's life: The Music of Silence:

WOW, I think I'd want to see The Music of Silence even if I wasn't a dev!

Wow anne thank you for sharing! I did not know about any of those. I love those silent era films!
I only watched the trailer of the Andrea Boccelli biopic but oh man... I have feelings about that one. It's based on his autobiography which I read and found rather boring and disappointing, not really devvy at all. The movie looks just terrible. Why is it in English? The actor seems to be cast solely because he has a passing resemblance, but of course all the singing is dubbed. It's really frustrating that it's a story about a blind person who acts on stage but they get a sighted person to play him on screen.
Anyway I just discovered a new series called This Close, about two best friends who are Deaf, one gay man and one straight woman. The actors are actually Deaf and they also wrote and produced the series themselves. It's so good! There are six episodes and it's already been renewed for a second season.
It's streaming on Sundance Now but if you don't want to subscribe there are other places to get it such as iTunes or Amazon. See here for links:

Yeay, I'm so glad you watched it! I just finished it too. OMG it's so so so good, seriously one of the best depictions of disability I've ever seen on TV. If you are at all a dev for deafness it's a must watch. There's even a cameo by Nyle DiMarco, the Deaf guy who won America's Next Top Model. I can't believe it came out in February of this year and it took me until now to stumble across it by accident. Too bad it hasn't gotten more publicity. Anyway here is a great review: www.vulture.com/2018/02/this-close-sundance-now-review.htmlVery excited for season two, and I hope it comes out soon!

I recently watched Robin Hood (2018 film). It was quite satisfied my dev needs when I saw Jamie Foxx as an amputee. The unforgettable character of this movie was a villain that had burn scarred half face

I just watched this documentary on BBC Iplayer about this young F4 driver who lost both legs in a race accident and got back to racing less than a year later. A bit of inspiration porn and not exactly devvy for me (he’s so young!) but very interesting nonetheless, especially the bits about recovery, prosthetics and car adaptations. It’s free on the BBC website, not sure if available outside the UK though...

I don't know if this is the right place to air this but this dating show is going to be on TV in Canada tonight. I don't think there's a way to watch it online though.

You're welcome! I'm rewatching, it's even better the second time! But I saw a comment online complaining that the characters use SEE (signed exact English) rather than ASL. I don't know enough ASL myself to be able to tell, although it does seem like they use a lot of fingerspelling, and the signs seem to match up to the subtitles more than you might expect. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that so many Deaf actors (including Marlee Matlin!) would agree to use SEE rather than ASL. It's a mystery to me. If any of you who really know ASL watch it please let us know.
Since season 1 ends on a cliffhanger, I'm really eager for season 2, but I can't find any information on when it might be released. I guess this is how it is with peak streaming now, things just show up randomly, but I wish there was some way to get an alert or something when it's available.
