Allow me to introduce myself. I live in a Dallas, TX suburb. I have had an incomplete C-7 SCI for over 30 years. I began handcycling, over 10 years ago. I consider myself to be athletic, but constantly struggle to keep my weight down. Like anyone else, working at your desk makes it difficult. 8 years ago, I started riding in organized bike rides. The biggest ride, I do, is the MS150. I started riding for myself, then for others with MS. I have also ridden in several Wounded Warrior rides. There's more to me than handcycling, but thought I would share one of my passions. I am kind of shy, when it comes to meeting people, but get over that soon enough. Anyway, I got tired of lurking. I hope this okay. Looking forward to meeting new friends.

Hello and welcome. I've always wanted to try out a handcycle. They are pretty expensive!

<to ParaGuy01 and BA> Yes, handcycles can be pricey. I got my first one over 10 years ago. I didn't know they existed until I ran across an online article and then the only manufacturers had an online presence. I started with a base model and moved up (I am on my 2nd one). Now, access to handcycles is a lot easier. I attribute my handcyle to my continued health. Find someone, in your area, who will let you try one. Don't get discouraged. My first time riding, I rode for 5 minutes. Spent the next 5 minutes catching my breath. I was done. Now, I ride in organized rides. My longest, one day, distance is 86 miles. I do it as part of the MS150 ride, in my area. It takes me about 10 hours, but I feel great at the end of the day.
