I've only experienced really minor spasms ( like many computer nerds ulnar nerve damage makes my fingers jumpy) but are your spasms usually pain free, or more like cramps?

some do. some don't and for me some feel good. I used to get hard legs spasms that went to my stomach and if I was sick or had just got done eating they were painful. mostly though, they are pain free in the area that spasms because most times you can't feel those areas to begin with. they can be dangerous too, because if you are working or doing a physical activity there's a decent chance you could fall or drop what you're doing(if the spasm if hard enough).. last kind can feel ok, it would be like if you were sitting in one spot for too long and you shake out your hands or legs it can feel pleasant, kinda of like an energy boost in a way.. now, that's just me im sure others have worse spams than me or not at all.

I have CP and my muscle spasms used to be really bad (the ones that hurt I would describe as having mild, Charlie horse all day long! But it's something that I just learned to live with/got used to. But I started taking it adaptive yoga and that seemed to really help I'm in the best shape of my life.

The same way as wheelchairstud84, I also have spasms from time to time, but in my case they are never painful. Just cause some embarrassment when it occurs at inappropriate times such as, when I'm eating and spasms make me drop the food or beverage from the table. What really bothers me is a typical condition of cerebral palsy known as "hyperreflexia" consisting of overreactions to certain situations such as loud noises and sudden that might let me spooked. The most times I suffered falls, at the time I still didn't use my wheelchair was because of this condition.

I get strong spasm, they don't hurt but are annoying! Sometimes the shake uncontrollably for a few mins and you just have to wait for them to stop.

Would the spasm be different/more intense/painful if your injury was incomplete as opposed to complete?

This sensation also happens to me sometimes! Yeah ditto for me, spasms not necessarily a bad thing, they help keep some muscle bulk (especially in the legs) and when your used to how they trigger can be useful .... Once had a girlfriend on my knee when my legs started bouncing, I'm sure to this day I heard her squeal with pleasure lol I'm curious as to the veracity of this--I hear it repeated all the time that spasms keep some muscle bulk in the legs, but how much of that is true? I'm not optimistic about any "cure" in my lifetime, though still hopeful (sorry devs! ), so I'm not sure what muscle bulk is supposed to do for me except keeping my legs from getting too super skinny. I don't ever wear shorts either way. But do spasms keeping muscle bulk have any tangible benefits for us outside of anything cosmetic? *edit: I wanna be clear that what I meant was that I have no doubt that spasms keep some muscle bulk, obviously, but how much of that is *useful*, and can spasms actually *build* muscle bulk as well? And for the record (complete T3/T4 para) muscle spasms in my legs and abs don't "hurt" but they are annoying, with strong ab muscles spasms making me change my voice a little bit (I'd compare it to a sort of "hiccup") when I'm speaking. When storms come my neuropathic pain becomes horrible though, and that combined with storm-strengthened, extra-strong spasms really put me through hell.

I get muscle spasms in my legs but I can't say they hurt, more 'uncomfortable' - and downright embarrassing if I happen to be drinking something at the time lol.

But i do have some muscle spasms in my abs occasionally if i have to contort a certain way to reach something. I always thought that it was just a cramp. But it is a spasm in my abs. And since i can feel the section of muscle that tightens it does hurt. Have you ever used a tens unit on your abs. Crank it up an set it for a 10 second puls wodth Lol im sure it will feel close. .

I am a C6/C7 with feeling in my lower limbs and I get spasms a lot. I used to have to take medication to try to reduce them. Sometimes they can actually be kind of relaxing as they tend to stretch out the limbs that don't usually get to stretch. However, they can be very annoying most of the time, especially when the legs start jumping around. They are not painful most of the time unless your legs hit something when they spasm.
