I just happened to be browsing on Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and discovered a glowing review for a romance novel with a hero who is a double leg amputee. I haven't read it yet but let me tell you I have never seen a glowing review on this site before! They are very snarky ladies. Thought of you, Emma ! smartbitchestrashybooks.com/blog/review-his-road-home-by-anna-richland

OK so when yall read it let me know if its good. I'm a terrible dev when it comes to reading and only read stuff I know is decent.

I entered their giveaway (because I'm such a cheapskate) but if I don't win I may still buy it.

I bought it and so far not disappointing. Pretty darn good. Not a huge amt. of dev stuff but well written and informative. Good characters. Like that she is Korean and he is Hispanic and that that is more of an issue with families

I read the book now and I also like it very much. I suppose the author decided to be vague rather than to be wrong in her descriptions. Just one thing I thought was a bit unrealistic. The H is a AK/BK with the AK just above the knee. In once scene he is described as walking on his knee and stump - not necessarily impossible but very unlikely that he could support his full weight directly on his stump. So yes, not very devvy but a great story nonetheless.

1 spot in book where he mentions "skanks" that go after injured soldiers. Not really dev reference but.... sort of

"skanks"? Ugh. I hate those tiny oblique references to devness. I was watching Push Girls (finally) and there's one episode where there's this off hand remark to watch out for devo. You're enjoying something and then they just have to slap you in the face and remind you that you're feared and hated

You're enjoying something and then they just have to slap you in the face and remind you that you're feared and hated *hugs* But thanks for the rec, I'm going to check it out. I'm usually not into modern and military stories, but sometimes the characters draw me right in.
