motor,
If you desire to use an umbrella, they sell umbrella holder attachments, as well as cup holders, lap trays for cooking (which with potholders can support a pan off the stove), a clerk will help you with a cart and loading your vehicle, etc., etc.
Snow is entirely different, but that's life in a chair.
My best friend in HS broke his neck the Summer after college. and when I broke mine years later and the hospital ordered both a power and manual chair, I asked my friend how come he never got a power chair. He told me that he had one in his garage that he never used. Here where I live, you're either heading uphill or downhill, so after I was released from the hospital and finally got set up in an apt. I used the electric to cruise around town and the manual at home until I got my first van and the electric has been in a closet since because as my friend put it, "What you don't use, you lose," so as people have been pointing out, it's all about the exercise and ADLs that build you up/keep you in shape. I can't ever recall as a quad seeing a para in anything but an ultra-light manual chair.
Just my two cents/life experience 20+ years post-injury.
