Has anyone been reading the Cormoran Strike series written by JK Rowling, under the name of Robert Galbraith? It's a series of detective novels, pretty good as far as those go in my opinion and Strike is an SBK amp (war vet). Now I'm not an amp dev but there are bits (especially in the second book) that I found super devy. The third book came out a few days ago and I just finished it. It has mentions of devs, pretenders and BIID that are, all things considered, pretty fairly represented. Also mentions of message boards about those things so if JK is lurking around here: Hi! Thanks for my childhood! Seriously though, I highly recommend it and if anyone's read it and would like to talk about it, hit me up! It's not Harry Potter, but then again, nothing is

Love those books, not just for the devvy side (there are some nice bits but not that many) but because they are awesomely well written crime stories.

This will definitely be moving to the top of my "To Be Read" list. I'll definitely PM you when I finish it so we can chat about it. Thanks!

It's not Harry Potter, but then again, nothing is So, I just put down the book and though it is every bit as good as the previous two, it left me... a little embittered. Yes, there are references to devotees and a few BIID characters, and yes, JK made her research. But these characters are all pretty negative: the BIID people are either obnoxious or pathetic, and the one devotee that appears is described as a harmless pervert who masturbates on his keyboard watching pictures of stumps. The tone is always going from disgusted to patronizing. Now, ok, I might be overreacting, and it is mentioned that devs are not sadists and don't like the idea of harming people, still, is saying they're all gross perverts really enough? I know there are quite some online, and that's the first thing that comes up when googling about it... but still. I cant help feeling a bit betrayed
