You're the first walking para since I've been here. Welcome! Right, I guess walking paras are little exotic. But I remember during rehab there were three of us. One was walking like an Egyptian, he had 'only' vegetative functions loss. We other two had similar, mainly sensory and motor impairments. While he considered walking like that terrible and preferred the chair, I was thinking the exact opposite. That brought us down to two.

Beware, she's already buried another brace user today...
Welcome.
What do you mean "vegetative loss"?

What do you mean "vegetative loss"? Impairment of the vegetative nervous system that controls the activity of your inner organs. Does this make sense?

*samurai sword in one hand and death scythe in other* What did you just say? You got me right! I was kidding ... of course. Hey! You took out my happy faces!! Now I actually seem crazy. Oh. Wait. I already did Vegetative is the same as autonomic, Inigo Montoya. Dunno if that helps at all? I'm guessing that the dude looked and moved perfectly fine but would have issues with things like bowel, bladder, yaddy, yaddy, yaddy...

Right, which lets me wonder if he would have been welcome to the forum? Technically he fulfills your definition from above, but appears like an AB. As a dev, would you still be attracted?

Right, which lets me wonder if he would have been welcome to the forum? Technically he fulfills your definition from above, but appears like an AB. As a dev, would you still be attracted? Hmm. Good question(s). 1. Yes. He would be welcome. No question. He's still a PWD regardless of "appearance". At least in my eyes. 2. As for the question: "Would you still be attracted?" Every dev is different, much like every para is different (both physically and mentally). So I can only answer for myself... Personally, I could still be attracted to the man but he certainly wouldn't be pushing any dev buttons. Tbh, you wouldn't fulfill my dev wish list either (although you'd do better than the other guy) since I have very specific preferences when it comes to my devness, which include a low para in a wheelchair. But this is only the IDEAL fantasy. Could I still find you or him wildly irresistable? Absolutely. Could I also be completely repulsed by a low para wheeler? Absolutely. Maybe a man prefers tall, blonde bombshells. I'm not any of that. Could he still find me attractive? Sure. Well, maybe. Gotta ask him Again, I can't speak for other devs but the wheels definitely catch my attention. The same way that pretty eyes or a fantastic smile do (well, not the exact same way but you catch my drift). After that, it's all about the man. Of course...later on...I'll gladly revisit those wheels...hmmm...yesss....

But with respect to the body part of the overall package, what is pushing the dev buttons? Is it still the body only or the extended body, body plus chair?

Thanks for the very warm welcome! It feels like getting adopted by an Italian family. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of my new sisters better, particularly from the DC metro area, and of course our lovely friends from Canada

Ok well thats a new thing to me. I'm not a SCI dev so stuff like this is always new to me. Interesting though. Oh and welcome Tommy!
