Always, somehow, chats with other devs end up raising more questions, some serious and some not so much. Today's question is both serious and light-hearted, and as always, designed to make you think a bit. What is your passion? If you had absolutely no constraints of any kind, be they physical, geographic or anything else, what would your dream job be? What matters to you most, and how would you like to make your mark on the world?
My dream job....in the practical sense, anything to do with math or science is my dream job. I suppose I should have studied to be a pharmacist or something like that instead of accounting, but in reality, that would be a nice career, not my dream job.
My real, true dream job, actually jobs, because I cannot decide between the two, would be to be an event/party planner and a professional organizer. My 20 years of tax law experience has shown me just how many people who run successful businesses cannot manage to keep their paperwork in order, which makes for much difficulty when faced with an audit or any other already stressful situation - case in point, the guy who, when I asked to see his records, went out to his truck and brought back a handful of receipts that he had tossed onto the floor and stepped on repeatedly. Even in this digital age, we are still surrounded by paperwork and stuff in general that gets overwhelming to think about organizing, so if I could make someone's life easier by helping with that, it would make me smile.
Event/party planner - exhausting and stressful, but the chance to bring together my creative and logical/detail-oriented sides would be amazing. I love the feeling of putting on a successful party/event, watching people just enjoy themselves and sending them away with the memories that are made. Making each and every one special and unique and tailoring them to the wants, needs and interests of the organization or individuals would bring a huge smile to my face and to my heart as well.
What say you? The sky's the limit!
