I checked out a new bar on Saturday night, it's an old building that had been abandoned for many years and is now a McMenamins...maybe some of you know... Anyhow, the building is super awesome and inside it has cozy and secret stairwells and multiple bars and event space, hotel rooms and stuff, very art deco, loved it. It's like one guy said, like out of "American Horror Story"...they did an awesome job brining this old building back to life. Right away I checked out if there is access for wheelchairs and yes, they also put in elevators, this is a seven story building. I checked out all the different areas and bars and then found a spot directly at a bar and all the sudden behind a crowd of people there is this empty wheelchair parked in between two tables. One table with four young women and one table with two guys. I am always amazed at myself what a wheelchair does to me...I mean I literally felt a surge go through me seeing it. It was a sporty one too, low backrest, metallic burgundy frame, very nice wheelchair. It's almost like I go into some kind of total observation mode, like a dev robot with laser eyes or dev zombie but instead of brains I'm craving wheelchair...lol So of course I kept checking it out and wondered who it belonged to, one of the girls or one of the guys...I even looked at legs under tables... Well, it did belong to one of the two guys, but the one I didn't find that attractive. Is it bad I wished it would have belonged to the one I found attractive!!! I don't think the disability was paraplegia, possibly SB or CP. But I totally witnessed the transfer and it was awesome and again all these thoughts go through my head like "If he would only know how I feel right now" "Does he know about devs" "I want to keep watching" and and and...it's so crazy really, sometimes I amuse myself and sometimes I get sad because the feelings are so overwhelming at times and then I wish I didn't have them...

oh Dani I totally get what you’re saying. I often felt the same way, and no, I don’t think it’s crazy that you started imagining who the chair belonged to and hoped for it to be the cute guy‘s one... maybe a bit - but that’s just the way our brain works, I guess. I liked that you said that you were checking all their legs - for a split of a second I imagined you crawling beneath the tables LOL - that would be weird 😂

OMGosh...were you in my head on Saturday? Those were the same thoughts that were going through my mind with the wheeler at the beach. And, I so felt he saw right through me-caught my first glance, made note that I walked the long way around to walk past him, stopped to sit and empty my shoes of sand on purpose so I could keep looking at him. UGH!!! And, the feelings were really overwhelming to me this time around (which typically they are just giddy dev feelings) but these were different and deeper. I am still processing them.

SouthernCalGalIt's really rough sometimes what it does to me. In a way every time I go somewhere I crave to see something but at the same time I dread it so much too. It's really shitty sometimes... Last week btw I was driving and spotted a younger hipster looking dude in a wheelchair as I was driving, of course my head turned and it hit me at that moment too, like I have to see him again. I was on the way to the store so I reprimanded myself to pull it together and go to the store which I did and to get my shopping done. But after my shopping I couldn't resist to drive back to the area where I had seen him and "poof" he was still there. He was talking to a guy leaning on a pick up truck on a parking lot and instead of just driving by one more time, I actually turned around and drove by again. I am not sure what the deal was with this guy though because it looked like he was able to move his legs. He wore a neck brace but I have an inkling he may not really have been "paralyzed". I still had to check it out because even that fascinates me. He had a nice bright green frame wheelchair though. But just the fact that I had to drive by there like two more times....stupid dev blah....

I liked that you said that you were checking all their legs - for a split of a second I imagined you crawling beneath the tables LOL - that would be weird 😂 That made me smile but I could totally see myself in like a dev satire doing this... It reminds me of a thread we had a while back about "You know you're a dev if...." I had come up with some funny stuff, we can add the "You know you're a dev if you check out legs under tables trying to figure out the owner of the wheelchair parked closed by" A few others were "You know you're a dev if..." -the illustration of a spine sends a tingling down your own spine -it is difficult to read a very devvy book in public, because you'd rather be at home in your bedroom -you may win in a game of "Name that vertebra" -the difference of a high or low backrest on a wheelchair determines the hotness of a guy -the words "bowel managment" and "catherization' are intriguing to you in a good way -you'd rather have a guy go spastic on you instead of go down on you Sorry, I derailed a bit but I thought I'll just put those here for now...

Dani , I SOOOOO get it. Hah, it must be a dev thing . I have done that whole driving by thing. There is a quad who I've seen frequently near where I work. If I am grabbing a bite to eat or running errands for work, I am always on the lookout for him. This one time, I spotted him and swung a quick right (not safely) to drive around the block to drive past him again. I envisioned getting stopped by a cop and having him/her ask me what made me do that unsafe maneuver. I'm not sure he would have liked what I had to say LOL!!! OMGosh...I just read this and my behavior sounds damn creepy! I'm willing my dev self to go away for awhile (even though I think that's impossible).

A couple days ago I was passing my neighbor para's house and he was in his truck with the door open. Dev mode strikes and I would have given anything to stop and watch. Unfortunately it's a state highway where I drive 55mph and cant stop. It's just amazing what dev radar does to us😯

I’d love to have a cute para as my neighbor...

I sort of know his mom (me and her went to elementary school together😯) and his other relatives (small town, you know), but not well enough to visit them. I'll just have to keep looking😢

Yesterday I had to spend some time slogging through Bureaucracy Hell to deal with some paperwork. The experience took a full 180 when I was finally called up to the counter and was helped by a man who had no right to be that goddamn handsome. He seemed to be from a middle eastern country based upon his accent and complexion, and he was blind in one eye. His pupil was a sort of little black shard, surrounded by this incredible electric blue iris. The contrast with his pretty brown eye opposite was really stunning.
I wish I could say I played it cool, but I most certainly did not play it cool. Now I'm half tempted to cook up some excuse to go back and creep his counter. "Oh don't mind me, I just uuh, need to please access every sidewalk repair permit filed in the last 15 years. Can you help me pull every single one? Yes, all of them, one can never be too thorough. Oh golly it'll probably take all day! I have quite the passion for sidewalk repair, would you like to hear about maximum gap tolerances?" Smooth as silk.

I live in a fairly small village. Just popped into the local store and there was a guy in there, older, maybe in his sixties but attractive, very distinguished looking. Not the best wheelchair tbh but very nimble in it, very thin legs.
I've never seen him before but there are a lot of single story houses in the village so wondering if maybe he's moved into the area.

You know your a dev when...
You drive in to your favorite flower nursery so looking forward to buying flowers (my addiction) and you spot a van in a HC spot with an Iraq Veteran License Plate holder. There I was...roaming the acres of flowers, trees, cactus and plants looking for the allusive PWD. No sighting 😩.
Just had to share. Laughing at myself now.

This is kinda fun.
I play a lot of random music while working, including a lot of folk from all over. Appalachian is a personal favorite, and today I stumbled upon this video. It was just playing in the background, but after a while I happened to glance at the video and notice the way the banjo player was moving as he was feeling his tune. A little investigation, and sure enough, he's blind! Cute and talented, to boot!
The video should link to a timestamp, but his name is Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton and he begins at 12:57.

Awesome myrrh thanks for sharing! This reminded me of Japanese performer Takahashi Chikuzan. There are a lot of videos of him on YouTube, although not that devvy since by the time he was being recorded he was quite old. But he comes from a very old tradition of blind shamisen musicians. If you like banjo, you might like tsugaru shamisen too; they are quite similar.
