myrrh you always inspire me to post in this thread, and I think you just made a Sunn O))) convert! Something about drone music is just super appealing to me, maybe it's just how meditative it is, or how all encompassing it is. It's close to a drug trip... except without drugs. I mean I'm not listening to it at the loudness intended but maybe that doesn't matter. Anyway let me get to the meat of my post, being the end of a decade I also want to post my favorite music of the twenty tens (it didn't get the best Anthony Fantano review but that's ok). And that's " Baths," specifically his album " Obsidian." It's music that's pretty on the outside but has pitch dark lyrics at times, like " Miasma Sky" which is about suicide. Maybe it's my favorite because of when I found his music I was in a pretty shitty place, maybe it's because of how amazing the sound design of it is, maybe his wonderful voice, maybe because I kinda have a crush on him. In any case I always return to it, as well as his most recent album " Romaplasm" which is way more cheery. Another group that's about as up there as " Baths" is " Fleet Foxes" but their music kind of speaks for itself. I just find it really beautiful. I can never get enough of " Helplessness Blues"!!! It's a modern day version of the " Beach Boys" specifically " Pet Sounds" although I think it's way better. There's a ton more music that I liked this decade, but those are the first artists that jumped out at my today. And Happy New Year!!! Hopefully the twenty twenties will bring a bunch more good music.

@elcidicrus music wise, I do not have top 3, many r fun to dance to; dance wise, I like Ataca Y La Alemana. By the way, do you know the name of the guy in this video? I like him very much!! LOVE Ataca y Alemana!!! This was the VIDEO back in the day... LIKE DAMN!!! Drool!! Schwing!! WOW! Right.. I mean I loved that style of Bachata where there is the leg split.. almost with elements of the tango thrown in. ALSO personally loved throwing the exaggerated leg lift/pop.. the turns.. My favorite part about this dance.. was it was so easy to just close your eyes.. lead.. feel her body.. and let the room disappear and fall away... just you and them. *SIGH*. Sorry.. just really one of the things I miss the most about being a leg walker is Dancing (salsa & Bachata) and running. BUT.. Don't know the name of the guy in your last video.. just so everyone else can appreciate Ataca Y La Alemana as much as you do.. here they are

Usually I am everything but a heavy metal fan. But I came across this by chance and found it quite interesting. The contrast between the traditional Japanese style (the bass guy reminds me of a Butoh dancer) and the strong aggressive music is surprising. Also, the comments are funny. Some of you might like it.

So glad to make you a convert, zacc! I quite liked Miasma Sky, and that Fleet Foxes video has very cute artwork. Another absolutely magnificent drone album is Radiance of Shadows, by Nadja. I'm pretty sure I posted it here last year or the year before as my "fav album of the year" and it's been in my top 10 for many years running. This album has carried me through a lot. It's perfect. It's frozen emptiness. Crystallized chaos.

I was getting in the car yesterday and turned the ignition on. I was greeted by this song. It transported me back to being a young kid and this was the kind of stuff my parents would have had on the radio. There wasn’t much selection “back in the day”.
Jonny’s gotten cooler with the years.

Not generally a Maroon 5 fan but I love the lyrics in this and his voice sounds great too.

There was a time when Maroon 5 was actually considered somewhat of an alternative rock band, like in this tune, for example. I dig it!

Found this new banger i really like and have been playing it a lot. I really like it when a song can make me feel both happy and sad.

Here's some music to go along with this very wet/misty day. I always get at least a little emotional towards the end when she repeats the line "It's gonna be slow going..." It reminds me that life can feel like drawn out, slow, and arduous at times. And having someone remind me that I'm not the only person to feel that way is really cathartic, and the general raw and imperfect way the song is played just adds so much emotional weight. Another artist I have a crush on (similar to Baths).
