I was having a discussion with someone about how the devs on this board feel about women with disabilities. So I decided to create a poll. Comment below if you have an answer I didn't include.

I was having a discussion with someone about how the devs on this board feel about women with disabilities. So I decided to create a poll. Comment below if you have an answer I didn't include. What do you mean “if it were free or easily accessed?” Like for example, if you randomly found a book in your house about a disabled woman, would you be more likely to read it than something else? Or if a movie about a disabled woman came on TV, would you watch it or change the channel to see what else is on?

Well, now that I have the definition, I would like to change my vote. Can that be done?

Yes, just click on the check mark or select more answers if you want.
I edited the name of this thread to include the note devs only. It's often a problem that the PWD guys come vote in the devs only polls.

I read books about disabled girls when I was a child, because I just wanted to read anything I could find about disability. As an adult I've read a couple books where the main female is disabled, but it generally isn't my reason for reading. I'm not interested in females with disabilities. I'm pretty straight, but any attraction I have had or would have is to AB women.

I agree, parashoot. I used to be willing to read the stuff with female characters when that was all there was (pre-internet!) but now there’s so much other stuff that is what I like that there’s no reason to compromise.

I personally prefer stories with disabled males. Hence, I’m daily checking the fiction site along with amazon recommendations. BUT there have been a few times when I’ve felt that I needed more to appease my dev high. So I’ll go back to a story about a female para on Ruth’s website. At times it’s just what I want to read as it can be more dev descriptive.

I'm not attracted to female PWD's but I'm intrigued by anything disability. I'll read or watch whatever male or female. SO, meaning if I had a choice to read a book or watch a show about NO disabilities or one with a female PWD, I'm picking the show/book that has the PWD male OR female.
Do I actively seek out books with female PWD's? Yes and no. Meaning, I'll probably pick the male book first, then put the female one on the back burner for when I've read through all the others.

I am somewhere between "I'd probably be interested" and "I'm just as interested in men as women". I have read books with female disabled characters and I would do so again. I do prefer a male character, but I am also interested in reading about female characters with a disability.

I checked the first one. I am not interested in disabled females in any kind of sexual way. To me they are just like any other person. I may be interested in their disability but not from a dev perspective but merely in a medical/clinical way.

Yea, Dani, I feel the same. Have read a few female pwd books when desperate but only as disability info. No sexual attraction at all. Lol, I always thought it would be easier if I was attracted to women.

I'm very much a dev for both genders. I do tend to fantasize more about guys, but IRL I'm actually probably more into girls.
