So recently i decided things need to change in my life, on of these things was strangely my bed. Before now I had a fairly standard hospital like single beds with air mattress, but found myself mentally coming to despise it. It was comfy it did it's job but I couldn't stand it, so I bought myself a double bed, the height picked so care givers can work without strain on their backs. Genuinely I thought I was taking a risk with a standard bed and mattress but i'm actually sleeping much better and am happier.
Thought I would share this the most recent change in my life and ask, have any of you found yourself in a similar situation and did it work how you envisioned ?

I need a new bed, I would appreciate any thoughts. I have a regular bed but am considering the adjustable ones. I don't think the Sleep Number one would work for me. How firm is the Craftmatic?

I'm not sure what your question is aiming at. But when I was really desperate with my work situation a few years ago and wanted to throw in the towel, I was told to start with a small change, like rearranging the things I use at the office, and little by little take control over the situation again.
I can absolutely imagine that a new bed can initiate change or even mark the start of a new life. Go on, I wish you all the best for that.

If you can keep your head when all others are losing there’s.....
I sleep in a hospital profile bed with sides and a air mattress, I don’t mind it… I find it easier to put slide sheets etc What I hate is when I sit the head up and I look over my quad belly at my stick legs… Blimey sometimes I wish I’d stood up for longer in years…

I just got an adjustable bed frame and use my regular mattress. As long as it's not an extra firm, yours should work.

If I am going to get a regular mattress, I already have one in mind. Regular bed frame here, for me the mattress is the most important, I use a Tempur memory foam mattress, expensive, but I'd rather pay a bit more upfront than risk develop a sore How much movement do you have? Those memory foam things seem to work too well for me, they get the shape of my body but then I become a prisoner because I am not strong enough to move to a different position. On a related note, due to breaking my leg, I was in a hospital for a few days. The hospital bed was adjustable but it was still a nightmare for me. I couldn't easily move around. I couldn't even eat on my own because it did not bring my back up enough. The people there were in disbelief when I told them how independent I was at home. In the hospital, they had to do everything, it really sucked.

I have had 2 over the last few years. The first I sunk into and couldn't roll over, so I bought a firmer one. They are cold in winter and ridiculously hot in summer.

I have had a memory foam with gel for 4 years and never had a problem with temperature. The rolling over part can be more difficult.

I pretty much hate changing anything boz it always leads to problems, although i got a new "Drive" bed (dumb brand name), and it's worked out great. The last one was a year old, and the controller was going bad. I went in the hospital last year for four days of misery. Everything about the bed SUCKED....not made for a quad!
Recently, my steering apparatus (tri-pin) broke, so haven't been able to drive all week, and I'm going a little nuts. Something soooo fucking easy has turned into a real bitch.
