Hello Dani, thank you for such a lovely welcome and kind comments. Inky is the guilty dev, her advice and openness with me has really opened my eyes to another life. I no longer have to hide my disability and instead I now embrace it. I wish I knew about devs and this site much earlier than I did. Time to catch up and share my experiences with such lovely people. I'm open to any discussions...x Inky's the best! I second that Alexa, she is such a wonderful person and a very knowledgeable dev x

Oh, I didn´t know that!! Push buttons are better than touch, interesting! hm well this Nokia phone is amazing, much better than smartphone IMO (please consider this is a person talking who does´nt own a tv on purpose...) My smartphone fell and broke the LCD and wasn´t worth repairing, I´m sure the Nokia phone would have survived the triple impact lol....but sadly you can´t use the mobile version of pd on it. For this tv issue, yes, I´m still worried about your tv issue lol. Maybe do it like myself, just don´t have one. What a stupid advise. OR. Smart tv, there are more talkative models which can be directed by speech. Oddly, my voice is not often recognized, or maybe it´s my accent. Or maybe I just use the wrong spell. Avada Kedavra or something like that. LOL. (Just ignore me, I´m obviouly talking nonsense ) welcome again, don´t be weirded out by me, please. Hi, yeah, I use a push button phone (like a PC keyboard) to select the keys, poking my finger in the corner against the button. I just can't manage the touch phone's very well. I'm sure I could cope without a TV which I watch sport mainly. Being a Quad of 31 years now (I was 19 when I was involved in a car accident), I have a bony bum and have to lie down resting and relieving pressure quite a lot. I'd go stir crazy without a TV in the bedroom haha.
I do not think you or any devs are weird, I think everyone on PD is amazing and I love to chat with you x

Welcome to PD Nicole. I'm very new to PD too but already fascinated and almost hooked on the help of so many warm hearted people. I've hidden behind my disability for so many years for the fear of rejection...no longer! I have never been so open about my disability but now I'm the complete opposite, thanks to devs. Have fun on here x Thanks so much for the welcome Michael, it's awesome to hear it's been so great for you here! I'm excited to be here as well I'm like a child in a sweet shop Nicole, so much choice to choose from. I am just amazed how welcoming and open with me and I can't wait to talk to as many devs as possible, they're all lovely and so understanding x

Hey guys, I just wanted to make a post introducing myself. I'm eager to join in on some of the awesome threads on here so I thought I should say 'hi' first so you aren't wondering who this random newbie is! You can call me K or Nicole, either one works. I'm in my mid-twenties and from Canada. I'm right near the Rocky Mountains which is perfect because I snowboard and I swear it seems like our year is 80% winter sometimes.. I love swimming, reading, and writing; I can be outgoing and I'm pretty chatty in general, but I'm an introvert so sometimes I'm shyer than others and I love just doing my own thing. I stumbled over here from the Stories blog and worked up the nerve to join. I'm open to anybody and everybody I could meet on here; this seems like such a good community. I'm especially looking for dev friends, but I'd love to get to know everyone else too! I'm definitely not new to my 'devvy' feelings, they're just not something I've let myself put much thought into. I've been conscious of not indulging in those thoughts or feelings because I've always been concerned about making PWD (is that right? I'm trying to pick up the lingo around here..) uncomfortable or unintentionally making them feel objectified. I work with pwd because I'm a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm, so I'm so focused on only being professional that it's always a switch to let myself think devvy thoughts freely. It's both exciting and nerve wracking to be here, where devs are clearly being understood and even embraced for their...devvness...devvyness...devoteeism?? I don't know lol I have about a million questions for devs and pwd alike so I'm excited to join in and maybe even make a thread or two of my own. Thanks to everyone who has already been so welcoming and I'm thrilled every time I get a message, so please never hesitate to say hi! ** K Welcome to PD Nicole. I'm very new to PD too but already fascinated and almost hooked on the help of so many warm hearted people. I've hidden behind my disability for so many years for the fear of rejection...no longer! I have never been so open about my disability but now I'm the complete opposite, thanks to devs. Have fun on here x

Welcome to PD Michael, hope you enjoy being here. Definitely great that the dev you talked to pointed you in this direction. You do not look like 50 on your picture, first thought I had was "Another one of those young dis guys"....anyhow, have fun here! Hello Dani, thank you for such a lovely welcome and kind comments. Inky is the guilty dev, her advice and openness with me has really opened my eyes to another life. I no longer have to hide my disability and instead I now embrace it. Hey, I know the feeling of dropping something like your phone can be damn frustrating. I've done that a couple of times and I've been unable to reach it until my PCA comes through to turn me. I've dropped the TV remote before and it's always when I was attempting to turn it off or change channels - end up being stuck with some crap program on all night GRRRRR!
We're all individuals and our bodies are different. If sleeping on your back all night works for you then fabulous = result, saves disruption of sleep in the middle of the night. I just can't sleep on my back - fancy swapping bodies? haha!
Tvs can be annoying, that's why I don't even have one lol. But there are a few apps for smartphone which can replace the remote control of your tv and other people's tv, so it's a must have. The tv does not have to be smart tv, most tvs can be controlled with the app. And you can even see what's happening in other channels. Maybe it can save from spending a whole night with a crap program?? Lol
[/quote][/p]
Sounds like a good idea, just need a mobile which was made in the 21st Century haha. Obviously, I have dexterity problems with my fingers and so I use an old push button Nokia300 mobile. I don't even think they make them now haha.

Hi Jay, thank you for your welcome. I love F! Grand Prix, cricket, tennis, athletics (used to run middle distance track and cross country and yes...football. I'm a season ticked holder at SJP home of Newcastle United (don't mention relegation haha). I have travelled to Belgium, France, Spain and Italy watching 'The Toon' play football in European Champions and UEFA Cup matches.
How about you?
I'm a die-hard Schalke supporter, season ticket, attending away games, actively attending annual meetings and sometimes other meet-ups, so there's not that much time for other sports, to be honest. I've thought about visiting the UK in order to watch a premier league game quite often. I've been to the Emirates once, when Schalke manged to beat Arsenal on a 0-2 away victory, that was quite a bit of fun. The way the disabled seats where set up, as in right inside the block, was fascinating. Really would like something like this for the Bundesliga, too. I actually really wanted to visit the Upton Park, but yeah. You are a busy man Jay. Hopefully Newcastle United can gain qualification back into European football again soon, and maybe play Schalke, that would certainly be worth a visit. I have never been to the Emirates but did attend a football match in Arsenal's former ground 'Highbury' which now houses a shopping centre, I think. Newcastle's ground St Jamie's Park has excellent disabled facilities and ideal for PWD's though the ground could do with some more suitable and reliable lifts. I'm situated on level 7 with my own balcony overlooking the pitch. I have a key for my use to a wheelchair accessible toilet which is excellent!

Hello all you lovely people, may I introduce myself? My name is Michael and I am a quad with a C6 SCI; complete. I have been ‘peeking’ around this site for a couple of months now, reading the various personals, topics and stories etc. Although I am normally a very private person regarding my disability, I am totally enlightened by the non-judgemental attitude and open friendship shown by the devs and other users of this site.
I didn’t even know what a dev was until recently, until I chatted with a dev (by pure luck), and who introduced me to the existence of this site. I will forever be indebted to her.
Well, it may have taken me a while but here I am! I would very much like, in time, to be able to chat to you devs and hopefully share knowledge and experiences with not only devs but also other PWD’s.
I’d love to hear from you……
Michael xx

Hey Michael , glad to have you here. so, you're from the UK, you like watching sports. What's your favorite football team then, if any? Hi Jay, thank you for your welcome. I love F! Hi Michael, and welcome. I was born in Sunderland but don't hold that against me! R. Hi Robb, I am black and white through my veins and don't normally associate with Mackems! However, on this occasion, and seeing how I have so much admiration for devs, I will make exceptions for you! haha!
Oh, thank you so much for the welcome, very kind of you.
