41yo with DMD in UK - married but trying nonmonogamy

Hey,

I'm a 41yo gay guy living in the UK. I've been married to a dev for 3.5 years. Sadly the sexual attraction he felt for me has disappeared, but aside from that we have a great life together. So we're giving nonmonogamy a go to see if we can keep one without the other. (For those of you who know me, this isn't public knowledge so please be discreet)

I really embrace devoteeism and find different types of attraction really interesting. I'm enthusiastically exploring other ways of being in a relationship even if I am anxious for the consequences. This pretty much sums me up - very open to new experiences but aware of challenges and always thinking of what I could do for the outcome that is 5 steps ahead.

I am a CEO of a charity supporting adults with muscle weakening conditions. I have a PhD in Government, do public speaking and awareness raising pieces on film and TV. In my free time I love travelling, gaming, baking, cooking and cocktails. I have an after dark side too and would be very up for exploring this more.

I'm looking forward to making some friends and understanding devoteeism better. Let's have some fun!

Making them is hard, I prefer an expert to do the hard work. but I can make a good strawberry daiquiri!

Welcome to PD! I hope you will find what you're looking for. Long-term relationships always need to be groomed. But they can also change into something different and still be a great thing.

Welcome! I thoroughly appreciate your experience <3 I've been with an AB man for almost 13 years and we have JUST begun to explore nonmonogamy as well as I realized my dev'ness runs much deeper than our relationship, and it led me to the most amazing human I've met (through PD).

My only tidbit of advice from my VERY brief time here, stay open and honest and up front about EVERYTHING <3 These PD folks are amazing, and your partner will be too, we build a lot up in our heads in regards to consequences/expectations - and so far none of mine have proven remotely true once faced in reality <3

I would love to connect with you in regards to DMD, my son's best friend (and his mom has been a friend of mine since they were born) was diagnosed with DMD last year (age 8) and we have been trying to support/love/learn alongside them since.

I'm glad you found us! The number of active members ebbs and flows (and it seems like the golden age of gay PD was well before I joined) but it is still great for various conversations about all manner of things.
