After a long wait and many challenges, I finally have my roll in shower!
It is a relatively small space to work with, but still big enough for accessible requirements. The tile floor has opened the space up well. Previously there was a little awkward shower stall, and then after that a company installed a shower that had a steep ramp that was impossible to roll over. My caregivers were having to lift my commode wheels over the edge, usually with rough landings lol.. and not every caregiver was able to get me into it.. now any of my caregivers can do my shower!
The whole floor is water proof and the tile is graded toward the back wall, so the water naturally flows into the linear drain. I chose large rectified tile (2x2ft) so wheeling in and out would be as smooth as possible. They installed the water filter to be hidden behind the wall and can be changed from the laundry room.
I designed it to have a basin filling station on one side, with a shelf for resting a basin on, and the handheld shower wand parks over the basin so neither must be held while filling. They use this for filling my glass basin for sponge baths as well as dish basins. An extension arm brings the hose away from my body so it doesn't drape over me as they spray me.
I’m loving the new rain shower. My commode parks perfectly under it. I use it for a few minutes at the end of my showers now. Very relaxing and gets any soap that may be missed by the handheld.
Fyi - There is a curtain rod and shower curtain up now too, just not shown in the photo, as well as new foaming pumps for my soap, shampoo and conditioner! Just about everything is new except for the light fixture above the mirror lol that’s a future project.
Fyi #2 – I had to leave my home for 6 days while this renovation happened. I stayed at a local hotel called the delta with my amazing caregiver. Knowing I would not be home to explain and wanted to make it easy on my mom when it was going to be only her here to tell them what I wanted, I decided to do up a detailed isometric drawing of what I wanted and where, including exact measurements, and had it printed off for them. A lot of planning went into it all, but it all worked out well, I am very happy with the result. The hotel trip was fun too, even though I didn’t have my adjustable bed, I couldn’t smoke weed in the room, and my caregiver had to get up through the nights to assist me out/in bed to do parts of my routine. Room service was great lol.

Very nice man, I wish I did that style drain in mine. But congrats definitely gave me way more independence and cut my cares time down to 4-6 hours a week now.

Awesome, I'm in the process of figuring out the bathroom in the new house and I'm definitely stealing the drain idea.

Thanks! Yeah this drain style is very nice, there is no where for the water to pool, and it drains away from their feet. The drain cover can be easily removed if the drain needs to be cleaned. The floor was done by a master tiler from Germany, and he insisted on the linear drain and the whole floor sloping slightly towards it. I insisted on the tile being laid symmetrical lol, he said he would have done that anyways and put one row in the center and worked outward from each side, with tile boarder on the wall aligned with the grout lines.

That's awesome! Now you'll have more stress-free showers, which is great.
