What are some of your greatest accomplishments?

So I was just wondering what some of your greatest accomplishments were before during or after your disability? Also, did your disability prevent you from Accomplishing any of your goals?

Fortunately, I was able to accomplish a masters degree in 2012 which was about three years before I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and that’s when the symptoms really started kicking up for me was right about that time. Fortunately, I was able to accomplish my degree and cross the stage, feeling better than I may have ever felt in my life.

I would love to hear some of your stories as well!

So my masters is in nonprofit management, which is some thing I decided to get into after Reading about 501 C3 Houston the good that they were doing in my area. I did work in an industry for a while, but I decided to go back into radio.

I did a search on disabled chat groups, and this group was in one of the searches that I performed. I clicked on it and now here I am.

Congratulation to you.

My greatest accomplishent was to make savings and buy my own condo in Montréal.

Less selfish accomplishment was to help someone to stop using drugs and stop self destruction leading to suicide. And helping another girl a know to survive to her suicide behavior.

So I used to run 4 to 5 miles a day. Usually on a treadmill, but sometimes around my neighborhood. It started getting stiffness in my right leg that I couldn’t shake. And being a man, I didn’t go right to the doctor because you know we hate them.😂 Anyway, progressively got worse and I had a noticeable limp so my general practitioner recommended an MRI. The MRI revealed a tumor on my optic nerve. They were optimistic that it was benign and the doctor claimed that this was the cause of the limp in his estimation. Had a six hour spinal surgery in 2016. Anyway, had the surgery and the limp did not improve in other symptoms begin to arise like numbness in my limbs. It was about Three months after the surgery that I got a call saying that the doctor was certain now that it was multiple sclerosis and that I should begin medication. Other symptoms followed such as the “MS hug “ (google it. it is absolute hell). And went from using a cane to a walker in 2017 after I fell and broke my nose using a cane. I figured I didn’t want to go back through anything like that again so why not be safe. To continue, symptoms got worse, right leg. I was unable to use for anything other than balance, and the right arm became even more worse as I lost feeling in my fingers and my hand. Luckily it was able to do my job with just one hand and I was still able to drive which I am still able to do today. Sorry for the long answer, but I wanted to be thorough .

Damn, that's awesome, what you did!
I think so far, my biggest achievement is graduating high school with very good grades after my injury.

That is still quite an accomplishment that not everyone can say they’ve done. You should be very proud.

I just wanna keep moving and Remain as active as I can be. One thing with this disease is if you stop moving, you will regret it so that would be my main goal right now. Just keep moving.

Congrats on the Masters, quite the accomplishment!

Along the same lines of education, I achieved a 1st class honours with distinction in psychology after my accident. I take extra pride due to relying solely on voice recognition software for PC work. It was a long, hard slog but have decided to do it all over again. This October I begin my honours degree in politics, economics, and philosophy. Must be a glutton for punishment!

Survival drowning in the ocean for 15 minutes in the dark with a broken neck. Thank God I was almost a lifeguard in Miami.

My greatest accomplishment was going on a trip around Europe for two months in 2018. I was(am currently) on a ventilator but I didn't let that stop me.
