Just wondering how your devness has affected your everyday life?
For me, all my thoughts are consumed in this "phenomenon" esp. when I'm not busy. I find myself on the computer, on this site, my now favourite - you-tube, reading up on paraplegia, etc. many hours of the day. When out in public, it's like I have a radar for wheelies. Being with my partner is a constant turn-on (not complaining!) and he knows and loves it LOL...I have also looked into volunteering for a disability-focused non-profit organization.
I was curious to know how other devs integrate their devness into their everyday lives.

i totally know what you mean about radar. it's almost a superpower! ;D i can hear a manual or power chair from a mile away. visually, if there is a wheeled device in the vicinity... i know about it!!! ( strollers are a constant source of disappointment for me....) mentally, it depends on where i am in the "cycle". some days my dev-ish thoughts are incessant. some days minimal. most days it's somewhere in between. but i doubt very much if a day ever goes by without thinking about it. i feel like i live in a state of perpetual frustration because there is such a lack of an outlet for me. i see lots of folks with disabilities every day where i live, but hardly ever attractive men. i envy my friends that they are provided with eye candy at every turn, while the type of men that i like best seem to surface for me only once in a blue moon....

I never really feel like this "thing" affect my everyday life..The only time it happened was when I met my first wheeler..then I was soo crazy and excited about this new world and experience, that it was all I could of think about, I wasnt eating or sleeping at all for months!..it was crazy!!!...after I learned to manage my emotions and was older and wiser Im not like that anymore with any other wheeler after that one..Yeah, from time to time Ill go online and read things and surf on myspace just to look cute wheelers but thats pretty much it these days....
When u start obsessing to much about it is when it becomes bad..I think since ive dated a few and been with one of them for a long time really help me to relieve all that emotions and now im totally relax about the whole thing....

Everyday life huh? Well, I am not seriously dating a quad. He is not in my life daily due to extenuating circumstances (his not mine). I'm on the board atleast twice a day. I IM with wheelers a lot. And... I've decided to do the BLOG. I'm working on getting material put together so I can set it up, and this will be something I work on everyday or every other day.

Well, for me, I don't show my devness in my daily life. I'm totally in the closet. For one, there aren't any wheelers around me (work/uni/neighbourhood), and none of my friends know any. So I can only come online to gratify my devness I suppose.

I do tend to brissel or prick up my ears when ever wheelers are being talked about but that is about it, for now anyway. Expecially since i never have any contact with them except darling brendan with the MSNing.

For me it's anything that looks like a wheelchair wheel out of the corner of my eye. Bikes for example. Or the backs of chairs that are rounded on the top and have spindles that look like spokes. I'm constantly turning my head to look at something that I thought was a wheelchair and it was something else.
