And just like the last time I had to break in a bunch of nurses and doctors into how to take care of a dude in a chair. It was like every day I had to refuse some sort of treatment or drug. Does this happen to every one? I left as early as I could just so I could go home and take care of myself properly....

As a medical professional myself the LAST place I ever want to be is in the hospital. Too many germs. When they find out I am one of the 'tribe' I get a little bit better treatment and less being ordered about, however, it is still a rotten place to be.
Glad you are back home in the real world.

Hospitals are never fun places to be - H.A.I's and all of that nasty stuff...
...I haven't had too many problems with medical professionals not knowing how to go about treating me; perhaps I've been lucky, though I haven't found myself in hospitals all too often.

Sorry to hear you were in the hospital. Hope you are feeling better now that you are back at home... the only place to be!

yeah...you raise a good point, fubb; why ARE there so many hospital dramas on tv and movies. i simply can't watch one of those because i find the clinical environment so utterly repellant....lots of bad memories.
as for hospital/disability issues, i remember reading somewhere that hospitals, clinics, and dr's offices were some of the LEAST accessible public places...and the staff often quite clueless about dealing w/the non-ambulatory.

LOL I had to pretty much tell them to take a flying fucking leap the first time they tried to get me to get out of bed. The very next morning after surgery they say you have to get up. I was like Uhh no I can't, AB people can bring up their legs to relieve the pressure on their abdominal area when they have to...I have these dead weight legs so when I get stretched out I stay stretched out....It wasn't until AFTER I almost passed out they believed me. After that they started to listen.
lol the Lift team? some big goon who was about 6 feet tall and the other? A teeny tiny thing of a girl about 5'4 and maybe 110 pounds.
Morphine and Percocets were my friends.

I once had a similar situation. I had a bladder issue and had to go to the hospital. I was there and a Doc, that is right, asked me if I had to pee a lot and if it it hurt there. Yea, dumb f@#king doctors. Keep in mind I am a T5. They are so clueless bout SCI.

Ummm actually YES. The only upside to my latest visit. I was the youngest guy in the ward, I was put where there was a bed and I was surrounded by 80+ year old guys. I don't even know how many times a nurse would look in, say Hey your a young guy!
To bad I'm also a perfect patient and just want to be left the fuck alone to heal in solitude.

LOL yeah and flirt when? Before the brown bomber treatment of after? Ever see the Futurama where they have to attack Fry's Splactant Gangleion?
" Listen, after this he'll be lucky to have any bones left, This is going to be one helluva bowl movement "
Then the Jaundice kicked in and I was wisked off to surgery and never seen the hotties again.

bummer about the incompetence you had to deal with. although it makes for good stories, it's got to be even more frustrating when you are not feeling well. i'm glad to hear you are out and on the mend. feel better soon!
