I'm sorry, but it kind of seems like you're not really aware of what devotees actually are. Otherwise, I find it *extremely* surprising that you find so many of these, seemingly obvious if you know what a devotee is, traits surprising. You're right I'm afraid I don't know what devtotees actually are, I'm trying to arrive at some sort of minimum requirement as to what a devotee can actually be described as. I've read a lot of literature on the topic, but i didn't want to make any presuppositions to begin with (because presumptions can often be wrong, and misguided). Rather, I wanted to arrive at them through questions and dialogue to become more clear that's generally how you do philosophy. The truth is I was never really surprised by some and perhaps most of these answers, I just find them interesting. One long time member of this board who's regularly contributing/flirting etc. just recently told me, that he has no clue what a devotee is. How can that be? Is it that the guys just can't believe it or is it just too complex of a phenomenon?

Hmm...at this point I know I've gotten a pretty decent understanding Devotees in general, I think there are a few complicated factors that more often are applicable to the individual rather than Devoteeism as a whole, but I don't/didn't think it that complicated to understand.

Is it that the guys just can't believe it or is it just too complex of a phenomenon? Some people are just retarded. Occasionally, that's the only possible explanation.

Hmm I think the confusion might be with the matter of degrees some devotees have with their attraction towards disabled individuals. Some describe devotees as an extreme attraction towards disabled individuals, some a minor attraction to the disabled. The confusion I have with it is actually whether it is most aptly characterized as a fetish or a "type". I kind of lean towards the latter as opposed to the former since I don't think it's strange at all that someone would find a disability attractive, good, valuable, beautiful, or even a turn on. I guess it has to do with having a positive self concept about my disabilities and disabilities in general. Also, I think I characterize it more as a personal "type" because it can capture most devotees, even those with a minor attraction to individuals with disabilities.

That's what I thought, too. Unless you're only looking at the pix and the "new devotee lookin for hot wheeler dude" section.

...i think more often here it's 'new wheeler ISO hot dev'
as for beauty; i think i'm different from most men. a lot of guys seem to draw pretty clear lines between 'cute', 'pretty' and BEAUTIFUL. i really don't. for me cute=pretty=beautiful=goddess. no big difference in attraction.

(jk) Yes, doing a little research among the older posts really does help - I spent hours upon hours reading the older posts to get a feel for what it was all about. New/more specific information is always welcome I think too...only if I was knavish enough to read the Devs Only section...
