What do you drive? Why? What would you want to drive? My truck is on its last leg and will need replacing soon. I don't want to get a truck again because they are brutal on gas.
I'm thinking a mini clubman, IF its high enough. Or one of those cross overs. I find most cars are to low for me to want to buy one. The s-10s I have always driven are perfect because they are a little higher then my chair and its easier for me to transfer up and then down rather then down and then up.
I really like the mini , the back has these two seats that fold forward, and two rear doors and I could see someone just rolling my chair as one piece, I need to find one and see how high it is and can be raised.
Anyone have any ideas?

i'd get something in good condition, low miles that's 2 or 3 years old. to me, it never makes sense to buy new unless you can pay the whole thing off at once...even then, the markup is crazy.

Currently, I drive nothing, but I have a semi-functionaly Ford E-250 van presently. My favourite vehicle I had was a DMC-12 DeLorean.
In a perfect world, anything as the mundane (of the muscle/glamour car spectrum) Mustang to a Lamborghini would be something I'd love to take for a ride.
...but with fuel the way it is, and lacking the quality of being a millionaire - something a little more economical is preferable - something with great operating distance; that Tesla Roadster is nice on the eyes...

Why can't they build a tiny car designed specifically for a wheelchair driver? This little car is made in India, $2,500 NEW...I'd love to drive a little car made for me to drive from chair, no giant side lift!! Actually, my lift alone costs for than this whole car. Yes, I'd even give up my Mystery Machine for this, but I would miss my sofa in the back, and the stories with it!! lol

Why can't they build a tiny car designed specifically for a wheelchair driver? They do!!! I saw it at a show once. It wasn't anywhere near $2500 but it wasn't super expensive either. I can't remember who made it though.

I've had a few rides over the years. It helped that when Dad wasn't saving lives as a paramedic he was moonlighting in the car business. Before my injury at age 14 I was helping him in the biz driving, fixing and selling all kinds of cars. Lotus Europa, Porsche 917, 'Vettes, 'Stangs, Camaros, Firebirds, MG's, all kinds of family trucksters... He made sure I was driving right from the start of my injury. I had my permit at age 15 and my first car I had hand controls in was a '69 Olds Cutlass from Texas-very clean. He also made sure we had a ragtop handy to drive to high school in-a '70 'Cuda convertible. What a sweet ride-they're going for $80,000 at the Barrett-Jackson classic car auctions now! My first van was a '77 Chev G-20. I laugh when I read about Tony's Econoline with a couch in back. My old Chevy had a green couch in the back too (I kid you not Tony!), and I drove my Love Machine all over the country for 300,000 miles and 17 years and had all kinds of fun in it. My next van was an'89 Chevy G-20 with a kick-ass stereo but I dumped the couch. My fiancee's kids hated riding in back 'cause the car stereo drowned out their walkmans, hehehe... My current ride is an '02 Ford E-150-the last year that you could lower the floor on a E-150. It drives like a Lincoln, definitely the best riding of all the machines I've owned. Today with $4 a gallon gas I'd look at something smaller if I was to replace it. I like the little Honda Element or a PT Cruiser. If I was a para I'd look at another ragtop. Something fun to drive that doesn't require gas station hopping (the automobile equivalence to bar hopping). If you can get into it and get your chair in too the sky's the limit. Get a ride you like and have fun with it.

I drive a Honda Element. It a great chioice. It gets good gas mileage, considering its size. I am 6' 4", so I needed some space to get in and out. I wouldnt want anything else. It also comes with AWD. I love my Rosalita. Look at it. It looks goofy, but work well.

I really like the Element. It may be my next choice in a car, since my current SUV is eating me out of gas and home (but is wonderful for transporting rambunctious 1st graders and assorted friends).

Yes, and I'm pretty sure a car with that function would still be expensive on gas...the amount of 'Sunday Drives' would skyrocket...

Mark, youve had some great vehicles, man!!! Love the '70 Cuda....but nothing beats the fun I've had in my van coz it's like a private room, even on a packed parking lot. Ahhhh, if our sofas could talk!!! lol
