Funny, it makes me remember the show "Dark Angel", Logan "eyes only" use an exoskeleton to walk.

I had read about his a little while ago; it is an interesting concept, but honestly a little bit too bulky for realistic consumer use...and I while I don't know 100% how the product function, it seems to be just an elabourate orthotic device that one could get in more simpler fashion without having to spend as much money.
I had co-drafted a product with similar goals - but instead took an opposite approach, and implanted endoskeleton support system that worked off ambient energy and processes, which I think would be a more preferable situation.

In one of my university classes we were asked to evaluate new inventions, and this, or something like it, was one of them. Every single member of the class (all AB) thought it was absolutely wonderful. I was obliged to register a differing opinion. Okay, YES, I am biased (as I'm sure someone will point out), but as you say Canuck, it looks totally bulky, uncomfortable, and frankly freaky to me. The class was shocked at my response. To them, walking is everything, no matter now it's accomplished, even as compared to putting this money into making sure that everyone who needs it has a well-fitting, well-performing chair and into creating a more accessible world, or developing an actual medical cure. Wind's idea sounds pretty cool though!
