i gotta say i'm against riding motor vehicles, ATVs, whatever, thru deep wilderness/nature. it can't be good for the wildlife and the ecosystem at all. do it like andy does; under your own power, or stay home.

yes...RESPONSIBLE use; that's the keyword. but how many do that? i mean to say, isnt there a lot of wild hoorawing and tearing up going on in any case? plus, there's the noise. no, i've never liked the idea of any of it; not jetskies, not snowmobiles, not ATV's. my dad and iused to kayak and canoe when i was able. i never wanted to drive loud, oil leaky, dirty machines thru pristine nature(and ironically, those ATVs are cripplers-they roll right over on ya)...but then this could just be my educated, upper middle class elitism, no? it seems country people who KNOW how to deal w/nature, how to hunt, fish, etc, they love these toys, right? so who knows.

jase, my last line was NOT meant ironically. i was honestly musing that people who truly live closer to the land and actually KNOW woodcraft(unlike me) love those ATVs...so maybe i'm wrong. i wasnt being facetious. eeeh the perils of online comm.

And southernman, sorry to be a part of hijacking your picture thread. Welcome to the boards! And while I'll leave it to the girls to tell you that you're cute, I will say that is a good looking quad you're riding, and it looks like you're having fun out there where wheelchairs fear to tread. no prob man, i enjoy reading all replies whether I agree with them or not. As far as the quads go, if i was able honestly i would rather be riding the other one that my friend owns, its a Raptor with a clutch and quite alot of torque, I am or used to be and adrenaline junky but now a days i obviously have to be more careful.. So i am usually the one pulling the ones that get stuck in the mud out...
